xoxo,
Q.

It’s weird how soft his kisses are, even though he hasn’t shaved in a while. That being said, the scratchy feeling of his stubble on my neck is just as much of a turn-on as the warm, wet feeling of his mouth on my skin.

My right hand weaves through his hair and clenches into a fist as he begins to suck on that sensitive spot right under my ear. I bite my bottom lip fiercely, but the moan still escapes through my lips and I feel him smirk on my skin. Luke knows what he does to me, but I hate to let him get what he wants that easily.

Even if it does feel…incredible…

His hand, playing with the lining of my jeans, slowly creeps up under my shirt, his cool fingers on my burning skin. Unwillingly, I let out a whimper and Luke surfaces from my neck, a smug little smile on his face.

“What was that again?” he says, hovering above me.

I don’t respond, pretending I didn’t hear him.

“Ignoring me, huh?” Luke says, his smile widening.

I take a second to regain my dignity and look up at him, challengingly.

“You wanna keep talking or you wanna get on me?”

He grins and, in one swift movement, yanks off his shirt, his hands once again on my jeans, this time pulling them down.

It’s unreal how good he makes me feel, what a reaction he can get out of me. It’s like my entire mind goes blank and all I can think about is him…

With a swift creak, the door swings open.

“Aw, Jesus, shit.” Gabe exclaims, immediately turning and hiding his face.

“Fuck.” I cuss under my breath, pulling my jeans back up and hastily zipping them.

“Can’t you knock?” Luke says, irritated, as he reaches for his shirt and yanks it back on.

Gabe ignores him, still looking away.

“Tell me when.” He states simply and I attempt to hide my smile from Luke. Gabe is too funny sometimes.

“We’re decent.” Luke scowls, running his hand through his hair roughly. Gabe turns around and pulls Luke’s desk chair towards him, sitting on it backwards and leaning over the back of it.

He shoots Luke a grin.
“Having fun?” he asks, in an innocent voice, but with mischief twinkling in the bright blue eyes he shares with his brother.

“Can we help you?” Luke says, raising his eyebrows.

I can’t help but smirk a bit. I know exactly why Luke is so grumpy. He’ll never admit it—he’s too prideful—but he really did not appreciate being interrupted.

“I’m not gonna be around for a couple days. I’ll be back on Thursday.” Gabe says, simply—obviously avoiding details.

“What?” Luke asks, confusedly. “Where are you going?”

“Nowhere.” Gabe fidgets in the chair and Luke raises his eyebrows at him. I don’t get it, why would he come in here to tell Luke this if he didn’t actually want to explain?

But then Gabe answers—“Dad’s”—and it clicks in my brain. He thought he could get the information off his chest quickly if he told Luke while he was distracted. I look over at him, chewing on my lip nervously.

It seems as though he’s looking at Gabe, but his eyes are slightly glazed and unfocused. I grab his hand and give it a comforting squeeze, but he doesn’t seem to notice.

“Right. Okay.” He says to Gabe, simply, betraying no emotion at all.

“We cool?” Gabe asks, unsurely.

“Yeah, of course we are.” Luke says, sounding more like himself, and exchanging some kind of brotherly handshake. “Do you need me to drive you?”

“No, that’s okay. He said one of his friends had to go this way, so he’s picking me up.” Gabe says, still with that slightly guilty look on his face, his eyebrows crinkling by the bridge of his nose.
“Right.” Luke nods, awkwardly, unknowingly wringing his hands.

“See you later?” Gabe says, with a question in his voice.

“Yeah.” Luke responds, adding a little too late, “see ya.”

Gabe shoots me a worried look and then leaves the room.

Luke hasn’t seen his dad all summer, since the divorce was finalized. There’s been zero contact. But then Gabe told him that their dad had bought an apartment downtown somewhere and knowing that his dad was around but just didn’t want to see him really got to Luke.

He tried not to let it show, but I could tell.

And now it’s even more like a slap in the face, because he invited Gabe to spend a couple days there, but not Luke.

“Hey, you okay?” I ask, entwining my fingers with his and stroking his hand softly with my thumb.

“Yeah.” He says, swiftly.

I lean over and kiss him on the temple, then murmuring quietly, “Gabe’s gone. No need for the macho act.”

Luke sighs and finally makes eye contact with me.

“What a douchebag.” He says, frustratedly.

“Gabe?” I ask, confused.

At this, Luke actually lets out a little smile, but allows it to fade away as quickly as it came.

“No,” he responds. “My dad.”

I give him a sad smile. “People suck sometimes.”

Luke snorts. “You could say that.”

“You miss him, don’t you?”

“What? No.” Luke responds instantly.

I squeeze his hand with mine, indicating to him that it’s okay.

He sighs. “I shouldn’t.”

“He’s your dad. And you were close growing up. It’s natural.” I say, giving him a quick shrug.

Luke cracks his neck tensely. “Alright, this is enough emotional shit for me for one day.”

I smile. “Okay, what do you wanna do?”

He turns to look at me, and a little lopsided smile forms on his face.

“I can think of a few things.” He quips and catapults himself towards me. I fall backwards laughing and when we kiss, it’s with smiles on both of our faces.
