WHEN THE BOY finally found the girl he loved.
She was alone, stranded in a field. Unconscious.
Blood stained her face in track marks that flowed from her eyes as if she had cried the coppery red substance & Miles let out a estranged broken-hearted cry, as he lifted her into his arms caressing her face lovely with his large boney hand. She was cold to the touch, in fact... freezing.
She felt like death. She seemed like a corpse. It was like all her life and light had been drained by the darkness that had previously resided. The darkness that had attached itself and make a home in her, draining her of sustenance like a parasite. Every last drop of the moon shine she represented to his dark night, had faded.
She was gone. It was a new moon. Clouds even covered the stars without her.
It was all but endless dark nothingness and he felt numb. He held her closer than he thought possible, yet soft at the same time, the same as she had held him in his agony when he was heaving over the toilet spewing blood, as if he thought of her as some fragile porcelain doll he would break and he soaked his sweater she was wearing with salty tears. All the evidence of his sadness staining her current form.
Sobs echoed through the otherwise silent night as he mourned for the girl he loved.
The girl that had saved him.
The girl he failed to save, himself.
He felt like the biggest loser, and he screamed up at the charcoal sky that matched the color of Niall's heart and his wild curly locks.
Miles pressed a light kiss to the girls chilled forehead and he suddenly felt her shutter underneath him wrapping her small arms around his thin frame and hugging him back in response to how he clung to her for dear life. Even though he thought she was gone.
He refused to let go.
"Miles?" she croaked weakly, taking him by pleasant surprise, her voice raspy like she had been deprived of water the same way Miles had been deprived of having her by his side
They lost each other all too quick. Almost right after they had found each other. It all happened so suddenly, the way he fell in love with this girl who never gave up on him. The boy who was lost, the boy who just seemed like a freak. The boy with demons that ripped his whole world to shreds. They had now just nearly ended the only thing in the universe he ever had felt was real.
"y/n?" he whispered softly pulling away to move his face close to hers and gazed into her now clear eyes. Even in all the darkness he could see she was herself again.
She always was.
She still is.
