Lexi's POV

I looked in the mirror for the fiftieth time, my hair just wasn't right, I looked terrible, but I was running out of time.

"Lexi, hurry up." Piper called from downstairs. "We're going to be late."

I couldn't care if we were going to be late, I couldn't care if we ever got there, I didn't want to go.

A knock on the bathroom door interrupted my frantic thoughts.

I opened it to find Piper standing there.

"You need to calm down." She told me. "It'll be fine."

Fine, how could she possibly know it would be fine?

"I'm perfectly calm." I lied.

"Girls." Our mom said, coming up the stairs. "You have a little further to drive now, you really need to get going."

"We are, we're leaving right now."

We headed downstairs and I grabbed my bag and car keys.

"Ready?" I asked Piper.

She nodded, and she was accusing me of being a wreck, she look terrified. "Have a good day girls, and remember a new school, a new beginning."

"Thanks mom." I said hugging her quickly and walking out the front door, Piper followed.

We got in the car and headed off. We drove in silence for awhile.

"It'll be better here Lexi." Piper said quietly.

"Will it?"

Anything would be better than the hell Piper and I had gone through over the last two months. At first it started out as name calling, the name calling I could handle, but when it turned into people trying to physically hurt us, that's when I'd had enough, and poor Piper, she'd been terrified and I didn't blame her.

"Stop thinking about it." Piper said interrupting my thoughts.

"I'm not." That was a blatant lie.

This whole mess had started because of me, it was my fault. I was the one who dated Brad, I was the one who thought we were in love and I was the stupid idiot who'd slept with him, I never meant for poor Piper to get dragged into this.

"Lexi, stop." Piper said more forcefully.

"Okay, I'm sorry." I smiled at her, she was my younger sister and I would do anything in the world for her.

"Stop apologising Lexi, today is a new day."

I hoped so.

We were transferring schools and I sincerely hoped things would be better here, for the both of us.

I pulled into the parking lot. People were standing around in groups, talking, goofing off and as I looked at them I really hoped things would be better here, I needed things to bd better here, especially for Piper.

"Ready?" Piper asked.

"I guess." I said grabbing my bag and locking the car.

"Let's do this."

Piper grabbed my hand and we headed inside.

I tried to look confident and self assured but the truth was I was an absolute mess inside.
