Chapter Twelve

We got to an electronic store that was close to our neighborhood and went inside through the back. He led me to a room that I assumed was the employee room, and I sat down on a couch. By now I was shaking, trying not to cry.

“You can stay back here. I’ll be back in a few hours. Are you sure you want to stay here?” Zander asked.

I nodded. “Yeah, it’s fine.” I said with a watery smile. I looked down with a short chuckle as I wiped my face. Zander stood in front of me before sitting beside me on the couch, awkwardly reaching over to hug me. His arms wrapped around me and I relaxed into him. A sob escaped my lips as I hugged him back.

“Do you wanna talk?” He asked. I shook my head and pulled back, wiping the tears from my face.

“No, it’s fine. You should get to work.”

Zander sighed with a nod. “I’ll be back.” He said as he gently placed a kiss on my forehead. He got up and quickly left.

I couldn't believe my brother. I knew he was hiding something when he first came home. That stupid ear thing giving away his lies. He was never even gonna tell us he was home. He was too busy visiting him. Why on earth would he ever want to see that man again?

Memories of him brought more tears and I buried my face in my hands, bringing my knees up to my chest. I hated crying so much. I hated the sharp feeling in my throat as it first starts and the feeling of being sick after. People say that crying is supposed to make you feel better, like a release. Right now it just made me feel worse.

I felt a vibration in my pocket and sniffed, wiping my nose before pulling out my phone. Checking the screen I saw I had a bunch of missed calls from Logan. Ignoring those I moved on to the text I had just gotten from Aria.

From Aria: I feel like you just dropped off the face of the earth. Where have you been?

To Aria: Sorry, family stuff.

From Aria: Is everything okay? Do you want me to come over?

To Aria: I’m not even home. But I’m good. Movie night tomorrow?

From Aria: Of course. :)

To Aria: Kk. Bye loser.

From Aria: Later, Dweeb.
