Vein kicked at the small pile of sand at the edge of the Sun Kingdom. Ants quickly scuttled from where he was standing on, the warm sand under his talons. He stared at the high dunes, seeing all the SunWings zip around from town to town, snatching up scorpions and spiders from the ground. Vein didn't think they'd taste so good, but SunWings had their ways.
Vein faced Blizzard. "So how do we get a SunWing when they zip by?" He asked.
"Magic. Duh," Blizzard said. "I mean . . ." he corrected himself after seeing Andesite's and Vein's severe faces at them. "I'll use magic to pull a SunWing to us, but it must be female and more energetic than most."
"Fine by me," Andesite grunted. "At least I won't be the only female here.
" . . . And it has to hate StoneWings," Blizzard said.
"WHAT?" Andesite roared.
"Kidding, kidding," Blizzard joked.
"Well, let's get our speedy," Vein commanded.
Now this time, the other dragonets were staring at him. "What?" He said. "Aren't SunWings . . . you know . . . fast?"
"Just bring her," Andesite scoffed. "I don't need more time surrounded by males.
This time, the males were staring at the StoneWing. "Ugh, you know what? Just bring her."
"Finally," Blizzard muttered. Then he started whispering. At once, the sand around the nearest cactus shot up, turning into a dust devil around it. It then suddenly stopped, maneuvered around the three dragonets, and quickly took the shape of a young SunWing. The sand that shaped her blasted away, revealing a dragon in gold-to-amber scales, with quite big yellow wings for her size (half the size of Andesite---a little shorter than Vein, though she looked as if the same age). She was snarfing down a scorpion, which didn't look very heroic.
"Um . . ." Blizzard said. The SunWing stopped at mid-chomp.
"Oh! Hi!" She chirruped. "I'm Cactus! Who are you guys!"
"Way too excited," Andesite mumbled. "And I also wouldn't say my name first."
Vein slapped her across the snout. "I'm Vein, this dumb chunk of gray here---"
"HEY!"
"---is Andesite. The TimeWing beside me is Blizzard."
"Oh! Well, those are nice names." Cactus said. "So! Why am I here! Are we gonna race? I love races! Do you want a snack? Oh wait---I ate it whoops sorry want me to get another one I'll be fast oh you don't want one oh well it's okay then it probably would've taken longer than you think for me to get one hey do you like spiders oh no you don't oh well."
Blizzard, Andesite, and Vein all stared at her in surprise. "Very energetic," Blizzard mused.
"Is there a shut-up spell?" Andesite questioned.
"Um, Cactus?" Vein tried.
"Yeah?" She chirped.
"Well, we wondered if you could help us defeat a bad guy . . . or female, for that matter."
And off she went. "Oh of course I do taking out bad guys is so fun let's throw them in Eventide's jail yes she really deserves it her dungeon will make her sorry and hmm will we kick her face I LOVE KICKING BAD GUYS FACES and it's like Kapow! and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah . . ."
Vein wasn't really paying much attention until Blizzard turned to him. "That's our SunWing. Let's get to out CoralFin!"
