Chapter 39

I didn't get to telling Harry that day since he left when Jake and I were talking.  I didn't want to text or call him because it was something I had to do face to face, so he was coming over to my house after work.

When Harry arrived he greeted me with a smile, kissing me softly once he reached me.  When he pulled away, he examined my nose to see how I was doing, holding my arms.

"So you're nose is looking better."  He said once he was done looking.

"Yeah, it feels a bit better.  You on the other hand are still pretty bruised."  I chuckled, speaking truthfully.  He honestly didn't look different from yesterday.  "What did the boys say when they saw you?"

Harry shrugged.  "Basically they were asking what happened and if I was okay."

"Did you tell them Jake did it?"

Harry shook his head.  "Nah, just said I had gotten into a fight yesterday.  Didn't give any details on why or who."  He answered.

I nodded.  "Good, there's something I want to tell you."  I started, trying to hide my smile.

"That doesn't sound too good."

"No, no, it is!  Really good, actually!"  I told him, not wanting him to get sad.  I took a deep breath before speaking again.  "When Jake and I talked yesterday, we of course talked about you.  And...Jake agreed to let us date."

Harry stood there, speechless.  "Are you serious, Caroline?" He asked, making me nod in response.  Harry lifted me up, spinning  me around.  "This is amazing!"  Harry exclaimed, putting my down gently.  "How'd you do it?"

I shrugged.  "I guess he just realized that he can't stop me from living my life and that I have to make my own decisions, right or wrong.  He also said that he could tell you really care about me."

Harry shook his head.  "I don't just care about you Caroline...I...I love you."

Now it was my turn to be speechless.  I stood there, surprised by Harry's words.  He loves me?  I could feel my lips being pulled into a smile as I replied.  "I love you too."

Harry smiled back down at me, taking me by the waist and nearly lifting me as we kissed.  I wrapped my arms around his neck, smiling into the kiss.

It was at that moment that I realized my life had really changed.  I was no longer a scared, little girl who locked herself inside.  I was a girl who opened that door and welcomed those who cared, and learned to trust people.  I was complete and in love, not hurt, but safe.  All because of Harry Styles.
