L thought back to that morning and remembered hearing something that fit what Robbie was saying.

"You told him that we're like family, didn't you? I heard something before I came into your room."

Robbie nodded, "Exactly, I told him we are family and that you're like my sister. It's not just a nice thing we say, it's the truth."

L smiled at him despite her swirling thoughts. "I feel the same way, but some things are starting to make a lot more sense. Bryce said something a while back but I didn't think it had anything to do with me... Still, it doesn't change much, I'd be terrible at a relationship and I may die in the battle with Frallica."

Robbie snorted, "That was particularly dark, even for you. Nearly everyone is bad at relationships but they learn, I dunno if you and Bryce are right for each other but you deserve to try. You deserve a bit of happiness even if it doesn't last that long."

L narrowed her eyes at him but her lips curved slightly, "You're getting so sentimental these days." She sighed, "No, I think a relationship will just get in the way. If something happened to either one of us then the other would just end up suffering more. No, we should just stay as we are."

"And you think either of you won't suffer anyway if that happens? Do you think you'll be able to just let it slide, now that you know how he feels?" Robbie asked, looking at her with raised brows.

"Yes, they're my feelings and I can control them," L replied firmly.

"Definitely clueless," Robbie scoffed and L tapped a hand up against the side of his head.

"Shut up. Now what do you want to do for the rest of our Christmas day since you're stuck in this bed?"

Robbie was about to answer when his body suddenly convulsed and L scrambled up. His body was tossing around violently and he began to cry out in agony.

"Robbie!" L shouted as she hovered next to him.

There was nothing she could do and she didn't want to touch him in case it made things worse. Her mind had all but frozen, and she did the only thing that she could think of. She ran to the door, pulled it wide and yelled at the top of her voice.

"SOMEONE HELP!"

She ran back to Robbie's bed. He was now groaning with the pain and his body shook from head to toe. He'd gone from not moving at all to not being able to stop and L felt sick to her stomach. She couldn't do anything except create a magical barrier to stop him from falling out of the bed.

"Robbie," she whispered, hoping he could still hear her. "Please be okay, please be okay."

All the power she had and she couldn't do anything for her friend. She banged a fist against the wall and it left a dent but she didn't care about the damage, that could be fixed.

L heard a parade of footsteps coming towards the room and she moved aside when they came in. Several Practitioners huddled around Robbie, as well as Archie, who was still human and looked like he was adapting very well to it. A second later, Vadim and Edra appeared in the middle of the room and both made their way to L.

"What happened?" They asked in unison.

L explained everything, though she left out what they'd been talking about.

"We've been monitoring his condition but as always, nothing has changed, he still should be just fine." Archie came to join them and he looked frustrated, his facial expressions were much easier to read now.

Vadim was rubbing his chin, "Are we still sure it's not Supernatural?"

"Well if it is, it's something neither I, nor you or even our new Keeper have any knowledge of. That is highly unlikely," Edra stated and she was watching Robbie with a strange expression.
