"Sophie!" A gruff voice called from the back door. He smiled fondly as he saw a little blonde girl playing in the flower garden. "Won't you be a dear and come help your mother with the food?"
"Of course, father!" the blonde answered, rolling off the flower bed. "Give me a minute."
The man smiled lovingly at his daughter, shaking his head softly. He truly admired his caring child. The girl flashed a bright smile at him, but as soon as he turned on his heel her expression went stone cold. She glared and raised her head up high, making her bright hazel eyes grow dark and her blonde wavy hair reach her waist.
Sophie swiftly walked behind a tree and out of sight. She took out a black glossy top-hat and placed it on the ground in front of her. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and uttered the mystical words she had gotten so used to by now.
"Take me back."
Suddenly, she was swallowed whole into the hat. When she opened her eyes again, she was free-falling at break-neck speed. She felt the familiar ice-cold water splashing around her. She enjoyed the chills moving up her spine and rapidly made her way through the black water. Soon enough, an old deck became visible through the heavy fog and she swam to it as fast as she could. When she got out of the water, she was completely dry. Not a drop of water was visible on her body.
Sophie smiled and breathed in the familiar moist air. She looked around the dark and gloomy deck as if it was a dear friend. A huge wave of mist was covering everything up- everything except for a well-worn cottage at the end of the deck. She made her way into the cottage, a disturbing smile gracing her beautiful, flawless face, making her expression even more malicious than before .
When she stepped into the cottage, her feet were met with broken glass. If there was one word to describe the cottage, it would be haunted. The walls and the floor covered in crimson- decorated in the deep, dark color of blood stains. The curtains were torn, claw marks all over them. The bed sheets and pillow- cases were haphazardly thrown all over the place, adding to the uncoordinated look. Finally, the unmistakable stench of death gave the house an overall dreary and eerie aura.
If you ever went into this cottage, you'd normally get frightened with the horrifying scene you're presented with, but that was not the case with Sophie. Oh no, she was not terrified in the slightest. Instead she was smiling warmly at the cottage like it had been her home for many years.
The cottage was, by no means hospitable, but there was only one thing that looked- well, not exactly presentable, just.......usable. One thing that looked like it hasn't gone through annihilation. The mirror standing at the end of the room had thick black casing around it with crimson designs flowing from it. Sophie walked closer to it and placed her hands behind her back. She looked at her reflection on the clear surface of the mirror with a grin. Slowly, the reflection started to change, making Sophie's beam widen.
The reflection grew a few inches taller as its expression twisted into fury. The reflection's black childish dress converted into a dark red cloak that hung around its figure widely. The long blonde hair sunk back into its skull and changed to coal black. In place of the wavy blonde hair was the most shiny, silky dark black hair, with a certain look about it that made it seem wet all the time. The most disturbing part was when the reflection's eyes started changing. It went slowly as the entire thing disappeared and was replaced with bright white eyes. Just white, nothing else. No iris, no pupil, just empty white voids staring into the distance.
After the transformation finally stopped, the reflection slowly raised its head up and glared into Sophie's eyes with uncontrollable rage. Sophie only smirked sinisterly at the mirror and tilted her head innocently.
"Hello again... Sophie Carter." The little blonde girl said to the reflection, revealing its identity.
