*****NIALL POV*****

"K-Kayt?" I asked shakily, my voice barely above a whisper as I got closer. She bit her lip, a light blush creeping onto her pretty face.

"Hi Niall." she said shyly, looking down at the ground. I reached out to her, gently pushing her face up, her blue orbs meeting my own, and I could just feel my heart melt at the sight of her.

"It's really you." I whispered, and she blushed even more, her face turning as red as mine when I laugh.

"I missed you Niall." Kayt sighed, and I took a deep breath, not believing what was going on. She was here. She missed me. But then I remembered what happened, how she had broken me, and I stepped back, noticing how her face instantly fell. I narrowed my eyes as the memory came flooding back.

*****Flashback- still in Niall's POV*****

I grinned, holding onto Kayt's hand as she climbed up onto the hood of her little Chevy, her brown hair blowing all around in the wind.

"I knew I should have put this in a side braid..." she mumbled, and I chuckled, tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear, and taking satisfaction on how she blushed.

"It looks beautiful no matter how you wear it." I told her softly, and she looked down at the ground. If I didn't know any better, I could swear she was uncomfortable...

"Listen, Niall..." she trailed off, biting her lip, and I tensed up. People only use that tone when they have bad news. "I really, really like you." That wasn't bad news... "But," she continued, and I internally groaned, "I don't think it could ever work out..."

"Why not?" I asked in disbelief. She just said she liked me, and it's pretty obvious I like her too.

"You're famous. You're on a world tour, and I'm here in Chicago. You know that long distance relationships almost never work out..." My mouth was hanging open as she was talking, it was like she ripped my heart out and stomped on it until it was crushed into a million pieces.

"You're not even going to try?" I asked, getting angry, clenching my fists until my knuckles turned white.

"No." Kayt stated simply, and hopped off the hood of the car, jumping into the driver's seat. I got off after her and went to her window, which she rolled down.

"I hope one day you change your mind." And with that, I walked away, and she sped off in the other direction.

*****Present- still Niall's POV*****

"You rejected me, and now you miss me?" I asked incredulously.

"Can we talk?" she questioned quietly, totally ignoring my own question.

"I'm doing something important now." I answered, remembering what I was doing out there.

"Well then, here." she said, taking my hand and placing a folded piece of notebook paper in it. I unfolded the paper and saw her name and number written on it, and I looked up, my mouth open to respond, but she was already gone. I sighed, putting the paper in my pocket and heading off to where Louis parked the tour bus. I walked inside, right away noticing little drops of red on the carpet, reminding me what happened. I shuddered, but looked around for her backpack. Now, if I was Jade's backpack, where would I be...? I took the steps two at a time to see if it was by her bunk, but there was nothing. It obviously wouldn't be in our bathroom, so I headed back down the stairs again, looking in the living room. Still no backpack... I gulped, glancing at the doorway where a white door once stood, that led to the room where it all happened. It made sense, I guess, for it to be in the bathroom. I gingerly stepped inside, careful not to step on any pieces of splintered wood. My eyes immediately rested on the purple backpack sitting on the counter by the sink. It was open, and there was what looked to be a book sticking out of it slightly. My curiousity got the best of me, and I took the notebook out, opening it to a random page. I was just about to read it, when Jade burst through the door of the bus, dressed like a doctor, her face angry. I quickly snapped the notebook shut, placing it in the backpack before bringing it out to the living room.
