I'm so ready to get the hell out of Atlanta. I came here to have a fun weekend and it turned to shit. I just wanna go home to Blake, the dogs & normalcy.
When I got up this morning, I went to the bathroom and when I looked in the mirror, I was shocked. The right side of my face is so bruised, I almost didn't recognize myself. I raised my hand to touch my face and it still hurt. Fucking great.
I did my hygiene thing and as I got dressed, I thought about how I would explain my bruised face to Blake. He's already pissed and when he sees my face, he's gonna go ape shit.
After I got my stuff together, I went downstairs to check out. The owner was at the desk today and when he saw my face, he gave me a sympathetic look.
"How are you today Ms. Smalls?" he asked.
"My face hurts, but I'm glad I'm going home," I said.
"Once again, I am so sorry about what happened."
"Stop apologizing. It's not your fault," I said with a smile.
He smiled back and started looking for something.
"Here you go," he said, handing me an envelope. I looked in it and it was a reimbursement check for my room.
"You don't have to do this," I said giving it back.
"Please take it," he said putting his hand over mine, "it's the least we can do."
I don't wanna take this money because it's not the hotel's fault.
"And there's someone that wants to meet you. He wants to know if you're okay," he said.
He motioned for a man to come over to me. The man came over and he had three kids with him.
"Ms. Smalls, this is Terrell Smith. He's the one that called the police last night," he said.
I looked at the guy and I got teary-eyed. This man is a fucking saint and deserves nothing but happiness in his life.
"Thank you so much," I said kinda quietly.
"You're welcome. I'm glad to see you're okay. I'm just sorry this had to happen to you," Terrell said.
"I feel like there's something I could do for you because you helped me out a lot," I said.
"You don't have to do anything. You needed help and I'm glad I could do that," he said.
I looked down at the envelope in my hand and thought about what to do with this money.
"Here," I said, giving him the envelope.
He looked inside and his eyes got big. He looked at me, then back at the check.
"I can't take this," he said.
"It's my way of saying thank you," I said.
I looked down at his kids and they were all looking at me.
"How old are your kids?" I asked.
"Two, four & six."
"If you don't take it for yourself, give it to your kids. Please? I owe you," I said.
"Okay," he said, giving in.
I gave him a hug and told him & his kids goodbye. I left the hotel and went to the airport. On the way there, I remembered my uncle's wife gave me some makeup yesterday, so now I'll be able to hide the bruises from everyone.
I went to the bathroom and applied the makeup to my face.
"It worked," I whispered to myself.
I left the bathroom and boarded my flight. While I waited, I got a text from Jordan:
