The hopeful soul

My eyes snapped open hearing a scream. I was sitting at Renji's cell and must have fallen asleep. It was the day after my brother infiltrated.

I heard explosions and I went to go check it out only for a guard to stand in front of me.

"ignore what is happening. It's already been dealt with. Also, shunsui has asked to speak with you." he said.

I nodded and left. After about an hour I got there. Shunsui was laying on the ground with his lieutenant. She turned to me and gave me a sceptical look.

"Akiko, nice to meet you," I said.

Her gaze soon softened and I quickly moved to the side avoiding shunsui's hug. He sighed and sat down. His lieutenant left the room leaving us alone. I sat next to him.

"what's wrong with you? You seem off," he asked.

I looked up at him with a strained smile. He placed my hand on my head and ruffled my hair.

"don't lie to yourself." he said.

I looked down as tears spilled from my eyes. I covered my mouth trying to muffle my sobs. He pulled me into a hug.

"what's wrong Aki?" he asked.

I unconsciously gripped onto his pink overcoat.

"what do I do? How can I fight him?" I mumble?

"who?"

I looked at his eyes and everything collapsed.

"my brother is one of the intruders," I said weakly.

I soon found myself falling asleep.

Shunsui looked at Akiko's sleeping figure. The pain she must be going through was unknown to him.

The pain in her eyes it was obvious she scared. Scared to face her brother. And scared he would die. She may be a soul reaper but despite how skilled she is she hasn't been here for long. He was her brother and no one could expect her to push aside her feelings for him.

I woke up to an explosion as well as an unbelievable surge of spiritual energy. I stood up and looked out a window to see shunsui fighting someone. I jumped out and next to his lieutenant. I looked at the boy shunsui was fighting. He didn't seem to to be of Japanese origins. But he must know my brother. So how did they meet?

Unless he's the chad my brother wrote to me about. I nodded to myself. Yes. That makes sense. I watched the fight impressed by the boy's strength. Impressive he could hold himself against shunsui. But it was only a matter of time before shunsui decided to end this.

The boy fired his last attack but shunsui dodged and took the last slash at the boy. I watched as the boy fell.

Shunsui called for squad four as he left to go pay his respects to Aizen but I felt something off.

I looked up in the direction that the spiritual energy was still strong. It was close to the repentance cell. I wonder what's happening over there. A captain must be involved. Perhaps I should go check on the repentance cell to make sure eveverything is in order.
