“Who are you?!” Evan screamed.

He led her through twists and turns around the building, huffing and gasping for breath. They ran until their legs couldn't and they ended up leaning on a dumpster somewhere in campus.

“Why were you running away?” She wiped sweat off her forehead and snapped at him.

“They were chasing me!" He said. “What was I supposed to do other than run?”

“Hide?” She suggested.

“Oh, that's a good idea,” he looked at her.

“What were you running away from?” She asked.

“Bombers,” he said.

“Bombers—what are these?” She said quizzically.

“Paint ball bombers,” he said. “There was a paint ball battle back there.”

Oh, and I thought something interesting has happened to my life at last, Evan thought miserably. “And who are you?”

“I’m Ash,” he smiled which made his strikingly blue eyes sparkle with intelligence.

“Evan,” she nodded at him. “Well then, I need to go and collect my stuff. Probably now they’re ruined.”

“Yeah,” he scratched his head making his dark hair even messier. “Sorry about that…”

“Don’t be,” she waved him off. “Things like that happen.”

He smiled, and Evan stopped to look at him. Perfect jaws, perfect teeth and a perfect smile, do humans like him even exist? She thought.

“I need to go,” she cleared her throat. “I’ll be late. I have a train to catch.”

“Goodbye then,” he said and left. “Oh and be careful!” he shouted.

Evan thought that was probably the last time she’ll ever see him.

“At least ask for his number you idiot,” she murmured to herself.

Back in here room, she sat with the pile of papers and books she needed to study for tomorrow’s test.

“First, abolish the treaty of Versailles,” she sighed. “Second, expand territories—I CAN’T DO IT! I JUST CAN’T DO IT!”

She flipped the book off of the desk and groaned in frustration.

“This is just so dull and boring I can’t absorb the information let alone MEMORIZE them,” she said to herself. “Stupid Big Belly gave us a test for tomorrow and I cannot afford to fail the class. What am I supposed to do now?”

She bent to pick up the book and froze. The picture in the book was taken when Hitler became the Supreme Leader of Germany, the Der Fuehrer , and something blurry was at the very corner of the picture.

“Interesting,” she picked up the book and put it on the desk so she could focus on the picture.

It was a big box, and only quarter of it appeared in the picture, a big police box. Her head started to throb as she tried to remember if she ever encountered this box. She was sure she saw it somewhere but the harder she tried to remember the more her head pained her.

“What is it?” she rubbed her temples anxiously.  “I’m sure I saw it, I’m one hundred percent sure!”

“Evan,”

“WHAT?” she jumped up from her chair in fright and held her ruler in front of her.

“Do you think you’d be able to kill me with that if I was to be a rapist?” Miss Popper put a tray on Evan’s desk. “Afternoon tea and cake will give you energy to study this heavy material.”

“I didn’t think you were a rapist Pops, just next time knock on the door,” she picked up a biscuit and started eating it.

“Evan, is there something troubling you?” Popper sat at the edge of the bed.

“No,” Evan looked away. “Why do you think so?”

“Oh, because your college called me and told me you have dropped in your grades and I can say I am very disappointed in you,” Popper muttered.

“So it’s my marks you care about not me? Great! What have the world come to? For God’s sake I’m human and I cannot just keep working twenty-four-seven!” Evan snapped. “Big Belly should just swallow his tongue and be grateful I at least try to do my best in his bloody class!”

“Do not raise your voice on me young lady,” Popper hissed.

“Yeah, fine,” she closed her textbook aggressively. “Thanks for your concern anyways. I’m off and don’t go looking for me. Oh wait, you won’t because you don’t care about me.”

Evan stormed out of her room leaving Popper sitting there with a startled expression on her face.

“I can assure you I’m not a thief, so let me in,” Ash said.

“You look like one,” the inn keeper said. “Messy hair, muddy boots, crazy eyes and torn clothes, it all screams thief.”

“I got into a fight, that’s all!” Ash said irritated with the man.

“I don’t believe you! Out you go before I call the police!” The man shooed him.

Ash walked sulkily around the neighborhood looking for a place to stay in. His apartment got raided three hours ago, everything was stolen and the only thing he had was his wallet and cell phone. Not a single place would let him in, not to even use the bathroom.

“What a day,” he muttered. “First the paint ball bombers, then thieves and now this. Homeless in one day! How did I manage to get—hmph!”

He bumped into something or was it someone?

“You’re too short to be classified as a human being,” he said to her.

“You’re the tall one! There’s nothing wrong with my height,” she squeaked. She was obviously crying a while ago.

“Are you fine?” he tried to get a look at her face.

“No I’m not okay!” She looked up and gulped. “It’s you!”

Suddenly she was pulled away from reality to revisit these old dream-like memories.

“Who are you?” I sat up.

“Well, tell me who are you first,” he smiled and sat beside me.

“I’m someone,” I crossed my arms. “I won’t say who until you do.”

“I’m an old man, and I like to travel and see the stars,”

“Really?” I said in awe. “You saw the stars beyond these suns?”

“Oh yes I did!” he whispered. “I saw planets, and creatures beyond your dreams. Out there, there is everything you’ve ever dreamed of.”

“Wow, can you take me there? Show me the stars?” I asked him.

“Yes,” he grinned.

“Promise?”

“I promise,”

“Wake up, hey! Wake up!” Ash shook Evan and gave her a slap to wake up. “Are you fine? Do you need help?!”

“I’m fine!” She pushed him away. I nearly got to the part where he told me his name! She thought.

“Do you need a doctor?” Ash felt her forehead.

“A what?” She stared blankly.

“A doctor,” Ash said hesitantly.

“So who are you?” I asked.

“The Doctor,” he said.

“Doctor who?”
