If there was one thing I hated about being the head of the Institute, it was this, sorting out paper work. Of course my husband had much more to do, but still. Paperwork.
I grabbed the cup of coffee I had sitting on my nightstand, and I groaned when the drink was cold.
So much for fresh and hot black coffee. I thought.
And then suddenly, the sound of my door opening met my ears as Izzy barged in, as if it was her very own room.
She made a bee-line for my closet, frowning as she browsed through my clothes.
"Do you have something mundane to wear? Like, a mundane dress?" She asked.
I clicked my tongue to the roof of my mouth. "Clary does."
She shuts my closet door.
"Why do you need one anyway?" I asked her.
"I'm going on a date," she replied.
I clapped my hands together. "Hooray for you." At least she was willing to put herself out there. Losing Raphael as a friend was hard. I still remembered those times when he'd attempted to teach me to cook, but to no avail.
But to Izzy, losing him...that was harder.
I didn't know the whole story, but from what I've heard, they've had a spat and she made Raphael leave the city.
I just hoped he laid low and stayed safe. He was technically still a wanted man, being the former clan leader and all.
"Yeah," Izzy breathed out. "Hooray for me."
She exited the room, probably to go and find Clary.
I leaned back into the headboard, and then sighed. Fuck it, I'm not doing this tonight.
Gathering the files, I arranged them in order before placing them on my other nightstand. Deciding to get another coffee, I stood up and grabbed my mug.
My stomach rumbled on the way, and I prayed silently that there were some leftovers in the fridge.
When I opened the fridge and saw nothing, I grumbled. I guess it's time for another order of Japanese at that restaurant downtown.
Heading back to my room, I pulled on my leather jacket and my gear, before strapping a seraph blade to the holster.
Heading over to the office, I knocked on the door before opening, to see Jace and Alec talking.
They stopped their conversation abruptly.
"I can come back," I said, already making the move to close the door when Jace stopped me.
"No, Ames, come inside." He said.
"What's going on?" I asked.
He turned to me. "I've decided to go to the Silent Brothers for treatment."
