WHY DON'T YOU
RUN  FROM  ME?

The darkness never really did bother Jisung before the accident.

He could remember going out with his friends, laughing into the late hours of the evening. The memories of jumping into the back of Chans car, driving around their small town with no worries at all- sometimes it was like it was just the 8 of them against the world. They would sneak into abandoned houses, run around the park when they should've been asleep. Playing around in the nothing of the night,

not a worry or a single sign that this would all end sooner than later.

They were realistic, they knew highschool wasn't forever- and the boys were prepared for the changes that would occur once they all graduated.

Felix was going to travel back to Australia to become a choreographer and Chan would follow him back to their country in hopes of training to be an Olympic swimmer. Changbin wanted to open his own hiphop company in Seoul, Seungmin wanted to become a lawyer and Jeongin wanted to get a degree in medicine. Hyunjin dreamed of travelling the world with charities and all Jisung wanted was to survive until he was old enough to see his friends achieve their dreams.

No one, no one, had the right to take away the dreams of 7 innocent children.

Everytime his parents came over to visit him, he wanted to ask about them. Ask how the funeral was, ask what their parents thought, he desperately wanted to know. But he never dared to open his mouth and speak long enough to ask the question, and no one ever mentioned it back to him.

The more he recalled the memories the more painful it was becoming, because they were dead. He was sure he had missed their funerals and didn't get to pay his respects to their bodies. To the bodies of the boys who kept him alive for all these years, the boys he grew up and cried with. They boys who deserved a future.

They were all probably buried beside each other in silence, the children they had saved burying their friends with tears streaming down their faces.

The whole entire country would've mourned the death of 7 heroic teenagers who should have lived to see their adult years, who should have been given the chance to love, live and grow.

But Jisung was asleep, on a hospital bed miles away. He would never be able to say goodbye to boys who saved his life in exchange for their own futures.

It was on the 10th day, did Jisung wonder why he hadn't died with them. And it was on the 10th day did the darkness scare him to the core. It was the 10th night did he struggle to keep his eyes open, he didn't want to sleep.
