6. Another One
I was silly to think this would've been a private event. It would appear this family really wanted everyone to know who they were and to also know that they might be here to stay.
"What are you guys doing here?" I walked right into Scarlet and the gang.
"Same reason you are, we got a letter formally inviting us to be here. A fucking letter who do they think they are" She scoffed, "Anyways the finger food is delicious you should try some"
"Let me guess you didn't want to be here either" Cole stood with me while the others left.
"You know me too well, my dad knows how much I hate these things but never ever takes it into consideration" I sighed.
"If it makes you feel any better you're little boyfriend and his family just entered"
My eyes travelled the room until it landed on them. They were the most beautiful set of people I've ever seen, there was something about their skin, I just couldn't understand how flawless it was amongst their other features. He must've felt my stare since his eyes landed on me giving me a little smile before he continued in his path.
"Will you ever stop doing that?" I asked taking cup from one of the waiters that passed.
"Yeah when you openly admit you like him" He teased, it was getting really old but Cole never knew when to stop.
"Anyways have you seen Elizabeth Williams? she's probably older than I am but damn she's hot" He tilted his head in her direction and I had to admit she really was.
She could any billboard or magazine cover, but she was probably better than those two dimensional photoshopped models. Somehow her imperfections made her perfect. There was a shyness to her, hesitation in her body movements. Her cream suit had a tailored look that was bold against her skin, but I could already see her in jeans and a t-shirt, feet up on the couch and painting her nails. She was right there, only feet away, but in her understated glamour she might as well be on the television or a girl in a pop video.
"She really is beautiful" my eyes instantly caught James, he was the new guy from my history class. My brain was frying, too much beauty in one place it was just too much.
"Hey, I'm James Williams I remember you from my class so I just had to do the courtesy of greeting you" He smiled.
He wore a loose black silk shirt and black trousers. However, he got better the more I looked. His rich chocolate hair that had tousled griminess which promised finesse. He had strong arched brows and eyelashes so thick, it could be illegal. To top it off his eyes- they were deep and catastrophic, a vivid baby blue as a great body of water that softly melted into a milky green. He had distinct cheekbones and an angular jaw, his pale skin made him look devilishly handsome.
"Hazel Michelson" Was all I could say I could hear Cole's scoff before he walked off.
"The mayor's kid?" He asked with an arched eyebrow.
"The one and only" I mentally rolled my eyes at how dumb I keep sounding.
His smile was assuring, I couldn't tell if it was because I was being pleasant or if it was a result of him ridiculing me in his mind. Okay I need to stop overthinking.
