I spun around at my computer desk in my room, willing myself not to think of Caspar. And failing terribly.
After sitting in silence for so long, I nearly jumped when I heard Caspar's muffled voice through the wall.
I got up, and pressed my ear against the cold wall, trying to hear what he was saying better.
"Huh?" He said, pausing shortly, "Yeah I guess I can drive there." Another pause, "Yeah I can leave now. Yeah. Okay. Bye."
He must have been on the phone with whoever he was seeing. I couldn't help but envy whoever was lucky enough to get to see him.
I physically hit my head, trying to get those thoughts out of my mind. I had to focus on my career not Caspar anyways. I needed to stop this nonsense thinking.
A couple minutes later, I heard Caspar's door click open before footsteps. He was going up the stairs now. He was out of the apartment. Part of me was relieved, another part oddly reminded of how lonely I was without him.
I wasn't in the mood to try and think of a clever video idea, so I went upstairs with my camera. I sat on the white couch, and leaned forward slightly, my controller in my hand. I clicked the 'record' button, and filmed another video for my gaming channel.
I hadn't realized it before, but now I hated the way my voice echoed off the walls in the flat. I hated that I was the only one here. I hated that Caspar's loud voice wasn't filling the room, slightly annoying but more comforting.
The doorbell rang, releasing me of my thoughts tied around Caspar.
I hadn't remembered contacting anyone after turning the group down yesterday. I sincerely hoped they hadn't all come here to try and cheer me up. But my gut knew they were.
I opened the door, with an obvious sigh, "Thanks but I'm not in the mood guys."
I heard a small laugh, "Joe?"
I looked up, I could feel the heat in my face. Doctor Anderson stood before me.
"Oh. Sorry. I uh thought you were someone else." I stepped aside so he could come in.
He didn't ask before stepping past me through the door. It was slightly rude.
"So what can I help you with?" Why was he here? How did he even know I lived here?
"Caspar's not here, right?"
"Yeah... But how would you know that?"
"A lucky guess."
"So what can I help you with?" I said for a second time. I had no interest in talking to him ever again. His tactics clearly failed.
"Joe, I have a confession."
"What is it?" I was already done talking to him. My mind was clicking through ways to ask him politely to leave.
"I'm attracted to you." He said suddenly.
"Ummm," I took a step back. Had I heard him right?
"I'm attracted to you." He repeated, taking a step forward.
"I'm sorry, I don't feel the same." I said, "please leave." I didn't bother trying to think of a polite way to ask anymore. I wanted him out of my house. I didn't trust him, and I for sure didn't want a relationship with him.
"I don't want to leave."
"I don't care what you want, this is my apartment and I'm asking you to leave." I hoped he couldn't see me slightly trembling.
