When I got back to our apartment I waited patiently in my room

When I got back to our apartment I waited patiently in my room. Sometimes the main door to the condo would creak open or slam shut, and I'd run out to only find Nexus and Reid moving stuff.

"You've been popping in and out of your room for the past two hours," Ried said, dropping a box with what I assumed was a new gaming counsel on the floor of the living room. "Maybe just chill? You're waiting for Advik, right? I'll call you when he gets here," he said, heading to the main door again. I tightened my grip on my bedroom's doorknob, nodding before disappearing back into my room. I was nervous, and it was probably written all over my face too. Advik had practice today, so we couldn't walk home together.

The class had ended at four, and I had gotten home at four-thirty. It was about seven or so in the evening now. I hadn't done much but prance around my room and grabbed granola bars to chew on from the kitchen.

What does he want to ask for advice on? I wondered, plopping down on my bed before staring up at the ceiling above. It was most likely about Oliver—it was always about Oliver. The thought made my chest feel hallow, but a surge of confidence replaced it when I remembered Morgan's words. I had to push for something to happen, and I wasn't just going to sit there and let Advik cry about Oliver all night when he got back.

"Austin, he's here!" At the sound of Reid's voice, I sat up on my bed, but before I could get down and hurry to the living room the door to my room creaked open. Austin stepped in, giving me a small smile as he closed the door behind him. It was around eight in the evening now. He'd spent a lot of time on campus after classes.

"So," he started, resting his guitar case on the wall beside the door before walking over to my bed. He sat down beside me, making the mattress sink a bit. He was wearing one of his many skinny jeans and he had them paired up with a loose green hoody. I could stare all day, but I didn't want to raise suspicion, so I turned my gaze to my fingers, waiting for him to continue.

"I don't think I'm going to bother Oliver again," he muttered, and my head shot up. "Even as friends," he added, making me more shocked.

"W-what?" This was what I wanted. This was my chance, but it was a surprise that came out of nowhere. I wanted to make sure he was okay and wasn't doing this because he was depressed. "Are you sure?" I asked, watching Advik. He had his gaze on the carpeted floor.

"Yeah," he said, sitting up before turning to give me a smile. I looked away, feeling my face burn up from his gaze. "I give up," he said.

"There are other great people around, don't you think?" Advik said, resting his head on my shoulder. I stayed still, afraid that if I moved that the scream I was holding in would burst free. I nodded at Advik's question, listening to him hum as he stared at my bedroom door.

"I know I said I was going to ask for advice, but it was more like a favor I wanted," he said, staring into my eyes with his brown ones. I nodded again, still not wanting to say anything. My chest felt like it was going to burst, and it took every inch of my patience to not push him away and hide my now burning face.
