After the picnic with Liam, we returned home and fell straight asleep. But of course, my alarm had to go off. I groaned and hit snooze, way to tired to get up now that I was actually able to sleep.
I was finally able to catch up on my sleep after going one and a half weeks without sleeping. A normal person would have been dead by now, but us werewolves can survive longer without sleep, but it really effects us. Both Brooke and I were sleeping all day.
I heard Liam call my name, and I groaned. I got up and walked downstairs, not bothering to see how badly I looked.
"Hey," he said.
"What do you want?" I asked crabbily. "I was sleeping."
He held up a waffle. "I wanted to see if you wanted breakfast."
I looked over and smelled the food. I shrugged. "Might as well, I am starving. I'll take some up to Brooke. And just to warn you, we are sleeping all day, and if you wake me up again, I will castrate you."
He held up his hands. "Got it. I'll make the food. You guys sleep before you murder me in my sleep."
"Good," I said.
I walked upstairs to Brooke's room and saw she was awake. "I smelled food," she said.
"Liam's cooking breakfast," I said. "But today, me and you are sleeping. We haven't slept in ever, so this weekend is for sleep only."
"Respect," Brooke said and layed down.
I layed next to her and waited for Liam to come up with the food. We watched tv for a little bit, and he brought up the food.
"I'll be downstairs if you need me," he said.
"Okay, don't answer the door. I don't feel like interacting with people today," I said.
"You never do," Brooke said.
"Yeah, but I especially don't feel like interacting today. If anyone other than you two talk to me, I'm ripping out their throats."
"Easy there, Hales," Liam said. "I'll do the talking. You sleep. Okay? Okay."
He left. I stared after him and said, "He's weird."
Brooke shrugged. "I think he likes you."
I rolled my eyes. "You think everyone likes me."
"Not everyone," she said. "Kelly hates you."
"That's because Kelly is a whore, and a skank, and every other name in the book," I said. "I hate her more than she hates me."
Brooke nodded. "Oh, how was your date with Asshat?"
"Horrible," I said. "It started out with me wanting to kill him, but Liam came along and we went on a picnic. It was pretty good, actually."
"Is he going to keep his promise?"
I nodded. "I went on the date with him. He never said I couldn't leave during the date, only that I had to go with him on one. And I did, I just ended the date with Liam."
"How'd you figure that out?"
"Loopholes, my dear friend. Loopholes."
"And if he breaks his end of the deal?"
"Then it's simple: I kill him. It shouldn't matter anyway, you should be all healed by now. You don't have any feelings for Jackass, right?"
Brooke shook her head. "No way in hell. Any feelings I could have possible had are in burning in hell at the moment. If he ever talks to me again, I'll kill him."
"That's my girl." I smiled. "Well, I guess this means we're both mateless."
"Then that means we can pick our own mates," she said. "This is awesome."
"Yeah, but what if they have mates?"
She hit my arm. "Don't be a pessimist, Hales. Everything is finally looking good."
"What about Li, though? We've both found our horrible mates, but he hasn't? What if his mate doesn't reject him? Then our trio could be broken."
"You know that will never happen. Liam loves us too much to leave us just for a girl. Even werewolves know family comes first. And we're family. A mate is like a wife or husband, you can leave them if they try to get between you and your family."
I thought about his parents and Brooke's. They haven't seen their parents in ever, due to the fact that we leave here and they live at the packhouse with the other werewolves. Their dads were also Tristan's Beta and Gamma, so they always had to be with Tristan at all hours. Their moms also had to help the other werewolves while their husbands were busy. Especially the Luna.
"I wonder what it would be like to be a Luna," I said suddenly.
Brooke frowned. "Where'd that thought come from?"
I shrugged. "I don't know, I was just thinking about your dad, and Liam's dad, and our moms. It made me wonder what it was like to be a Luna."
"It's probably really stressful. I mean, you gotta clean up the Alpha's messes, look after him and the pack, and also do all the paperwork the Alpha can't do and cook. It's probably a hell of a job."
"I know, but you also get unlimited respect. Like, everyone loves you since you do so much for them, and you're basically higher up than the Alpha. Everyone would listen to you over the Alpha, since even the Alpha has to listen to you since he is your mate. Just imagine that."
"I'm fine with being a Beta. You get the same respect, and you get to hang out with the Alpha and be apart of everything. You also get more free time and can help manage things."
"And the Gamma still gets respect, and you get to be apart of everything as well and hang out with the rest of the pack. You're basically apart of everything, including both politics and friends. It's pretty much heaven."
"Speaking of the chain of command, who's the Omega of the pack?"
I shrugged. "I don't know. I don't think we have one. If anyone, it should be Tristan or Kelly. They can't even fight."
"So that means you should be Alpha. You can fight, you know everything about politics, you know how to handle situations, and you're probably the most understanding person ever."
"Just one problem with that: girls can't be Alphas."
"Yeah, but they can be Lunas. Your mate would have to be Alpha, but he wouldn't be born into it like you. You'd basically be Alpha, only a girl."
I laughed. "Why do I feel like you're planning to kill Tristan and make me Alpha?"
She faked gasped. "I would never plan something as horrific as that! I'm planning on kidnapping Tristan and sending him to Mexico to make you Alpha. If he dies, well, we don't know what happens in Mexico."
I laughed. "You've been spending way to much time around me."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"No, no it isn't."
We laughed. We fell asleep along the way and slept basically all day. Liam woke us up for lunch and updates on stuff, but otherwise he let us sleep. Only having three hours of sleep in a 10 day period really makes you sleep once you can.
We slept all day Saturday and most of the day Sunday. Liam was fine with it, but we did stay up and talk to him so he wouldn't be left out and lonely. We're awesome friends.
We didn't fall back asleep around three on Sunday, so we talked to Liam and watched some movies. It was great being able to hang out again just the three of us, without having to worry about any mates or pack buisness. It felt almost like we were normal teenagers.
But nothing is normal when you're a werewolf, as I was soon to find out.
