my mattress

oh mattress of mine, you've seen too much.
you've seen the days in which I've written my first
story for the whole world to see, which
makes you my first peer editor even if you don't really talk.
you've seen the days in which I've been my sleepiest,
where I haven't used you in a few days because
I was too overloaded with the work I put myself under,
remember that day I stayed up for 72 hours?
you've seen the days where I am either having
great adventures or terrible nightmares in the dark.
you've seen the days where I'm jumping for joy
because I did something good today, whether it be
getting a good grade or putting myself out there.
you've seen the days when all I wanted to do
was just to stay in that four walled room with you.
you've seen the days in which I've cried my eyes
out to the point where I've soaked through the sheets
over the emotions and events you didn't see.
you've seen when I've swooned for my first loves
and you've seen when my heart was broken.
you've seen my friends when they come over and
you've been neglected when I go to school.
you've seen all the shows and movies I love to watch
on my cell phone while I fall asleep.
you've been my crutch since I was a child,
holding me to sleep at night.
you've kept my secrets,
you've listened to the phone calls,
you've been my punching bag when times get rough.
you've been what I cuddle when the lights go down.
you've been the friend I need when
reality gets too ahead of me.
oh mattress of mine, you've seen too much.
