A Few Days Later
The Mothership, Earth

Krel's POV

"Almost there, and ... done!" El screws in the last bolt to her left wrist and flexes her newly-made hand.

"Lively!" Aja shrieks. "So you can just easily replace whatever bone you break or lose!"

"Exactly."

"But then ... what happens to that broken bone?" I question.

"It isn't needed anymore, so I throw it away," El replies. "I mean, that's what it is. My body's just an engine, a shell. Whatever I break, I repair. But what I can't fix is my life core." El presses the symbol on her forehead and the "skin" around it sinks into her skull. The emblem then folds out, revealing a hidden compartment in her head ... and a life core glowing a faint green like El.

She takes it out and offers it to me. I slowly take it from her, feeling the core throb and pulse in my hands.

"How come you're still operating?" I ponder aloud. "You need your core to thrive, do you not?"

"I do, but my body runs on life spark." She holds out her hand, and green volts of electricity dance between her fingers.

"Fascinating! Absolutely fascinating!" I exclaim, reaching out to touch the strange energy. El lets me, and the sparks shock me!

"Ahh!!" I pull away, my teeth rattling together as the electricity shoots through my blue veins!

She chuckles slightly to herself as Aja begins to giggle.

"A little warning would've sufficed," I grumble, massaging my head in my hands.

"You should know better than to touch 200 million volts of electricity, let alone 600 million volts of life spark. Little boys who play with fire will get their fingers burned," she smirks.

"That isn't even relevant!" I disagree.

"Same thing," El scoffs. "Fire and electricity are both pyrotechnic."

"She does make an excellent point, though," Aja agrees.

"You too, Aja?!" I groan. "Ugh, fine fine fine! You win!" I declare, throwing my hands up in surrender. "You hap—*hiccup*

All of a sudden, a strange gulping sound erupts from my throat! I immediately cover my mouth.

"What in Great Gaylen was that?!" My sister gapes.

"I-I don't know," I stammer. "What is—*hiccup*

"There it is again!" Aja points out. "What is it?!"

My hands feel around my parched throat, and my eyes widen in horror as I realise the cruel irony of the situation. "There's an animal inside me!!!!"

"Now just hold on for a moment—" El starts to say.

"There's not a mekron to lose! Where is it?!" Aja feels my neck and my torso, searching for the creature. "Quick! Get to the incision table!" She pushes me onto the table. "Krel! Are you feeling alright?" She feels my forehead with the back of her hand.

"AAAGGGUUHH!!!! I CAN FEEL IT TRYING TO CLAW IT'S WAY OUT OF MY THROAT!!!!" I grope at my neck, feeling the creature writhing in my trachea!

"Don't worry, sweetie! Doctor Mommy is here to help you with your little cold," Lucy shoves a thermometer into my mouth and lights a matchstick on fire!

"What in Great Gaylen?!" I screech. "What are you doing?!"

"Here's some friendly fire to soothe that burning forehead of yours." Lucy draws the matchstick towards me!—only to get pulled away by El.
