Suddenly, a knife is thrown from above, stabbing the man in the head. He stills for a second before his grip releases and his body falls dead to the ground. My eyes look up, catching a smirking Jace who is standing on the second floor.
"Thanks for that."
"Any time," Jace says with a smile, giving me a wink.
Izzy and Clary running over to me grabs my attention next. I turn to them, seeing that Clary's guy is dead as well.
"Stick close. It's safest if we stay together," Izzy said, her eyes looking around as if she was waiting for something else to happen.
Clary bends down to the little girl, "It's okay. We won't leave you alone."
We head deeper into the Warehouse before going down a hallway. Turning, we enter a large room with tones of people in it. Jace and Alec are already inside, tending to a few wounds.
"Magnus," I say, causing Magnus to look up at us. The little girl quickly runs to him, his arm wrapping around her in a comforting way. He whispers a few things to her, rubbing her back, before sending her off with some of the others.
Izzy leaves to help Alec while Magnus makes his way over to Clary and I. "I heard what you did for Zoe. You both risked your lives without hesitation to save a young Warlock child."
"She was just a girl and she was in trouble. What else were we supposed to do?" I asked?
"You're not like the others. Most Shadowhunters protect Downworlders out of sense of duty, but you saved young Zoe because of what was inside your heart. You two are more like your mother than you will ever know," Magnus said, seeming amazed.
His words brought me hope that he might help us.
Clary spoke up next to me, her tone begging slightly. "Magnus, please, you can't hide from this battle. Look, Valentine, he found you once, he will find you again. We need to work together. Help us."
Magnus sighed, looking at the ground in thought for a good minute before looking at Clary. "I can summon the demon, but you must make the demand."
"I will do what I have to do," Clary nodded.
"So will I," I added, making Magnus glance over at me. He looked deep in thought for a second before returning back to reality.
"All right. But we're not safe here. The lair's location has been compromised," He said, walking over to the large glass windows. "Hold tight, everyone, we're about to move."
Suddenly, Manus holds out his hands, closing his eyes, while purple smoke erupts from his hands. The place shakes slightly before the windows in front of him go black. When they appear back on we're more into the city, closer to the bridge.
My eyes pull away from the windows, looking around the room to find it mostly bare minus Jace, Izzy, Alec, Clary, Magnus, and I.
"Ah, much better," Magnus says with a smile, turning to face the room. The place, which was trashed when we walked in, was now redecorated to a new glory. "Ugh, it's inevitable. After each move, I get the itch to redecorate. Normally, I love a dirty lair, but this one is just sloppy."
Magnus looks at Izzy who looks around in amazement next to him. He suddenly holds up his red diamond necklace, "I believe in payment for services rendered. Thank you for defending the warlocks."
Izzy looks surprised with her mouth parted. "I couldn't..."
"Oh, but you could," Magnus says, taking a step behind her and clipping the necklace on her neck. "And you should. The Lightwoods have been wearing this for years. Besides, this would look silly on your brother. About Alec, is he more of a flower or cologne man?" Magnus asked, whispering the last few words to Izzy.
