There was nowhere to go.

The alley was dark, rain coming down all around them. She held onto Sebastian's hand tighter.

The sounds came closer. They were nearly surrounded now. Sam started crying. They were going to die.

"No, you're going to die."

Sam looked at Sebastian. Did he just...?

"What?"

"I'm not going to die. You are."

He let go of her hand. Sam desperately tried to reach him but her feet were rooted to the spot. It got colder.

"No!"

There was a snarl from next to her. Something grabbed her ankle.

"Sebastian!"

A sob escaped the girl as she fell, the gravel digging into her palms. She was going to die.

"No!"

"Sam?"

She was alone. She was alone and she was going to die.

"Sam, wake up."

Sam felt a pressure in her hand and she woke up, her breath hitching with a sob. Sebastian was right there. The day's events suddenly came crashing back down on her, and she pushed away from him, sobbing harder as she pulled the duvet over her head.

"It's okay. Sam, it's okay."

"No!"

It wasn't okay; she failed, and now he was going to leave.

"Sam, it's me, it's okay." She felt arms wind themselves around her waist and pull her back. Sam pushed the covers off her, freeing her arms and head. It was him, he was still there. He hadn't left her.

The girl pulled him into a hug, smiling at the sound he made when he fell down next to her. She buried her face in his chest and squeezed him tightly. Some part of her felt bad about wiping her tears (and possibly snot) on the front of his expensive shirt, but the rest of her was just glad he was there.

"Please don't leave."

"I won't leave, Sam." He said quietly, hugging her back.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

Sebastian smiled to himself - yeah, he'd definately fallen for her. He had an idea.

"Sam?"

"Hmm?" She lifted her head, sniffing. Her eyes were gorgeous. He smiled at her, watching as she smiled back. "Why are you so happy?"

"Would you do me the honour of coming on a date with me?"

Sebastian watched as she blinked in surprise, then grinned. Nodding, she kissed him, both of them smiling. It was gentle and perfect.

"Ofcourse I will, Seb."

"Good, because I went out and got us slushies and ice cream and I'm gonna set up How I Met Your Mother."

Sam laughed as he finished rambling. "A How I Met Your Mother marathon is our first date?"

He pulled her up and out of bed, holding the duvet around her as they walked into the living room.

"Yeah, what else? Only the best for my Samantha."

"Your Samantha?"

She giggled as he blushed and turned away.

"Come back here, Sebastian."

He carried on walking into the kitchen, and she heard him rooting around in the drawers. Sam sat down on the sofa and switched on the TV.

Sebastian stared at the phone in his hand. It was a text from Lilly.

Anyway, what I was GOING to say before the line so rudely cut us off was that Sam's in love with you. Be careful and look after her, or I'll have your balls mounted on the wall above the fireplace.

He snorted and texted back,

You don't have a fireplace, but I get the point.

He gathered up the ice cream, the slushies, and two spoons before going back into the living room.

"Here we are. Triple chocolate ice cream, strawberry slushies and spoons." He set them down on the coffee table, pulling it closer so they could easily reach. Sam had set up the show, and she grinned as he settled in next to her and held her hand.

"You sentimental fool."

"Shut up and watch the show."

Well, this is it. A day early, too.

Thank you, all of you, so much for reading and voting and commenting and generally just being lovely. Without my readers, I would have given up on this. But I didn't, so hooray!

If you're wondering what happens to Sam, she goes on to work in theatre. No, she doesn't get her dream, but she did get Sebastian, and anyone would be lucky to have him. After a couple of years they get married and have a daughter, who they name Robin. Lilly's dad fully recovers from his cancer, and him and Lilly's mum move out to live in Portugal for retirement. Lilly meets a lovely girl and they get married. Everyone is basically very happy. Woohoo!

Once again, thank you so much for reading.

Love, Elizabeth x
