Chapter 27

August 4th

"Isabella," said Ryan as he and Isabella were riding next to one another on the trail, "I know we are back at uni and all that, but I was wondering if you would like to go out on a date with me on the weekend?"

"Me? Go on a date with you?" replied Isabella, a little shocked that Ryan asked her out after what she had been thinking of before.

Ryan actually lowered his eyes, assuming that Isabella didn't want to go out with him.

"No, Ryan," said Isabella, pulling Storm to a halt, "I would love to go out with you."

"Really! Great! I mean, cool, okay. This Saturday okay?"

Isabella nodded her head. She couldn't believe that she had been asked out on a real live date by a real live boy. She was so excited and she was excited to spend time with a boy who wasn't Adam. Adam was a good friend and all, but he wasn't able to become her boyfriend, not that she liked him in that way, anyway.

Maybe Ryan would become her boyfriend.

Maybe he would kiss her.

Isabella was now nervous and excited. She was acting like her whole future had been made and she hadn't even been on the date with Ryan yet.

"Maybe we could go and see a movie or something. We could go to the movie theatre in town. It isn't very big, but I have heard it is good," said Ryan.

"Okay, a movie sounds good," replied Isabella.

Isabella always dreamed that her first date would involve the boy taking her to a movie, and now it was clear this dream was coming true. She would actually go on a date to see a movie with a boy. Could this dream get any more perfect? Isabella didn't think so, and she couldn't wait until she could tell Tasha because she knew that her friend would be so happy for her.

"Okay, then," said Ryan before he looked at the time, "do you want to stay out for a bit longer or turn back?"

"Let's stay out for a bit longer," replied Isabella.

"Okay, then."

Isabella smiled, enjoying spending time with Ryan, a part of her not wanting it to end. Ryan was such a nice person and Isabella did really like him.

Why couldn't all boys be like this?

Today was going to be a great day.

...

Nicole was glad that her placement day had now changed to Mondays. Fridays were good, but Nicole liked to start the beginning of the week saving animals. Once reason why Nicole couldn't wait to get to her placement today was because she was excited to see Lilly. They had not seen each other for a while and Nicole was eager to catch up with her friend.

"Would you like me to drive you to work, honey?" asked Mr Walker as he grabbed his car keys, "I was just about to leave for the stables anyway."

Work.

Nicole had only being referring to her placement as her placement, not work. But work sounded better than placement and it made Nicole think that she actually had a job. It made her feel like she was actually a vet and that was a good feeling.

"Would you have even driven me to placement even if you weren't going to work?" asked Nicole with a grin.

"Of course I would," Mr Walker smiled back, "now, come on, let's go."

With that, Nicole grabbed her bag and followed her father out to the car, eager to have a good day at work. It still felt strange calling her placement work, but Nicole knew that she would get used to it.
