Chapter 1 Part 3: The Feeling of Uselessness

Start from the beginning

"It's you're fault your family is gone!"

My eyes clenched shut, as my hands shot their way to my head, grasping my hair and slightly pulling it.
"STOP IT! SHUT UP!" I suddenly shouted, "I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! MAKE IT STOP!"
Rantaro looked alarmed. He instantly let go of me, backing away slightly.
My eyes were clenched, tears showing.
"IT'S ALWAYS MY FAULT! MY FAMILY IS GONE, AND IT'S MY FAULT!" I shouted.
"What do you mean (y/n)? Calm down," Rantaro replied.
I seemed to calm down a little. I opened my eyes in shock, being surprised of what I just became. I clenched my eyes shut, biting my lower lip in frustration.
"M-My family abandoned me... my mother, father, and sister..." I muttered, "everyone blamed me because I wasn't good enough... even my friends stopped talking to me after the whole ordeal. I was alone... always blamed for everyone's short comings. I was assaulted by my neighbors for being useless... it's all I am..."
"That's... terrible," Rantaro said in shock, "I'll share a story with you because you shared something about yourself. This one is a little bit personal to say the least. I feel like you can be trusted with this. You entrusted me with your backstory, so I shall do the same. Sharing this stuff will make us both stronger, yeah? It'll strengthen our bond I hope."
I sighed lightly and nodded.
"Alright..." I told him, "Say what you want to say, I won't judge."
I looked at Rantaro, focusing all of my attention on him. He let out a frustrated sigh as he began to speak.
"This happened before we came here. I was born into a rich family. I had a sister. We got along very well," Rantaro explained.
"You were born into a rich family? So you have a mansion and stuff like that?" I asked in response.
"Yeah I do... I guess I now seem very spoiled to you," Rantaro sighed in response.
"What? No... I don't think that at all. You aren't dependent on money. You're a level headed person," I replied.
"Ah-haha you're too nice (y/n), but anyway, my sister and I got along very well. We would never fight or anything like that. She would follow me basically anywhere. We were together all the time," Rantaro explained.
"That seems very cute," I replied with a light smile, "she must look up to you."
A small frown appeared on Rantaro's face. He seemed to get a bit upset when I said that. I looked down, feeling slightly sad.
"Did I say something wrong... I'm sorry if I did," I said.
"Nah, you're fine... let me continue," Rantaro told me.
    "Alright..." I replied.
"So we went on our first trip when I was younger. We went by boat. I don't remember how long ago it was, but I was excited. It was my first time on a boat. I basically bounced off the walls from being so excited. Once we docked, I decided to sneak off of the boat because I wanted to go on an adventure. I thought I was alone, but my sister followed me as always. I didn't notice her because I was exploring. Once I got back on the boat, my sister was no where to be found. My parents told me it wasn't my fault, but it's a big brother's job to protect their little sister. I couldn't do that, so that makes me a failure of a big brother..." Rantaro explained with a sad yet serious look on his face.
    'Rantaro...' I thought.
"I travel around the world to try and find her. I've been all over trying to find her. Everyone tells me it's impossible and that it's too late now. But until I see her with my own eyes, I'll never stop searching for her. Never ever in a thousand years. No matter how long it takes, I'm going to find her. She's waiting for me. I refuse to give up (y/n)..." Rantaro explained.
Tears were forming in my eyes, slowly flowing out as Rantaro told that story. It was touching, and it hit me where it counts. I never knew Rantaro had faced a hardship like this before. It was shocking.
"Rantaro... you're not a useless older brother. You kept searching after all of these years. You should be classified as the Ultimate Big Brother," I replied, wiping my eyes.
"Hah, you think so?" Rantaro asked.
"Yeah I do. I want to help you Rantaro.... I want to help you look for your sister..." I told him.
"You don't have to worry about it. It's my issue. I should be the one to solve it alone, yeah?" Rantaro asked in response.
"You shouldn't say that Rantaro. You think it's your issue, but you're really worried aren't you. Telling me you want to do this yourself is saying that you want to do this alone. It will get lonely... please let me help you out. I'd rather help you than let you it yourself," I replied with a determined look.
"Are you really serious about this (y/n)? You do understand if you agree to helping me, then you can't go back home," Rantaro stayed seriously.
"I have no home anymore Rantaro. My family left me. I'd rather spend my life helping someone who cares about me, than spend my life alone," I replied.
"So you are serious about this. Well then, I accept. I look forward to working with you partner. Please stay by my side, till the day I become a real Ultimate Big Brother," Rantaro said with a light smile.
"Alright. It's a deal..." I replied with a smile.
Rantaro smiled at me. It was a greater smile than all of the ones he gave me. It was even more genuine than ever. He was happy that someone wants to help him, despite the effort it will take.
"Anyway, we should head to our dorms. Get some sleep (y/n)..." Rantaro told me.
We then both walked back to the dormitory, laughing a little as we made our way back. Soon enough, I waved Rantaro goodbye and went into my dorm, going into an instant peaceful slumber.

Kokichi's POV:

'This can't be happening! (y/n) just told Rantaro that she search with him for his sisters. I have to do something about this... I have to... or else I'll lose her... I'll lose everything..' I thought.

Deeeeeeefinatly not referencing a sequel for a story after this one. So this is an update that focuses on Reader's past. And Rantaro's as well. Basically their bond is growing as they talk more and more. I hope you like this chapter.

So I finally got a prompt. I'm gonna make this one a tie again. xXKitty_The_LiarXx and Shinyumbreon372   win this weeks prompt. They win a spoiler, shoutout and art piece.
