After everyone goes home, I stay at the hospital, checking over patients and stuff. The new Neurosurgeon, she's interesting... her name was Laura, I think.
Anyways, I decide to walk around. That's when the chief and I spot each other. He decides to walk up to me.
"Skylar?" He asks. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm just checking on patients." I shrug, holding my chart.
"Huh, are you sure?" He asks.
Not a lot of people know this about me, just the chief, who I didn't even want to find out, but he looked at my records and stuff. I used to work in the army, it's why I'm a trauma surgeon here, I'm used to it. Anyways, I went through a lot there and before it. When I was there my bestfriend AND girlfriend got blown up by a stupid bomb, we used to live together, their stuff is still in my house, I need to get someone to take it away, because I can't.
Before the army, I didn't have the best childhood. A lot of people know my mom Eliss Grey, a very popular surgeon, but what they don't know is that before she got diagnosed with alzheimer's she ran away from my dad and I, we were unable to help, well I wasn't since my dad is an alcoholic. He is still out there in the world, while I, am a surgeon, who still blames themself that they weren't able to help their mom.
"Skylar?" Asks the chief, knocking me out of my thoughts.
"Yeah?" I say, but it came out as a question. "I'm good, is there anything I should do."
"Yeah." He says. "I knew you would be here, so, there's a trauma coming, call others if you need them."
"Okay." I nod.
"While you deal with that." He says. "I'll tell someone to clear your house from you know what, since I can't have you sleeping here ALL of the time."
"Thank you." I smile.
Ever since the chief found out about my past, he's taking me under his wing. He's like the dad I've never had.
I go outside and see the ambulance coming. it stops in front of me and I see Chris walking out and pulling a patient on a stretcher.
"What do we have?" I ask, as they pull her inside.
"Janelle Duco, passed out on the street." He explains. "Has glass in her arms and on her face."
"Okay." I nod, they put her in a bed. "I'll take it from here, thank you."
"No problem." He smiles. "Goodbye."
"Bye." I nod.
He leaves and I slowly pull the glass out of the patient's arm and face. She wakes up.
"Hello, I am Dr. Grey." I say. "You are in the hospital, do you remember what happened?"
"Um, someone drove into the fish market with their car." She says. "How are the others?"
"There are others?" I ask, how did no one else find them?
"Yes, I was trying to walk my way to the hospital, but I passed out." She says. "Someone must have called the ambulance, but there is still people there."
"Okay." I nod. "I will finish with you and I'll go check it out."
"Okay." She says. "Please hurry up."
"Okay." I nod "Now, what happened to you?"
"When they drove into the fish market, the glass got all over me." She says. "It's night time, so there isn't many people here, that's why no one called the ambulance."
