(Isabelle's POV)

I went down the hall and into Zayn's room, hoping he's more confident than I am. When I open the door, he springs from where he sat on the bed.

"Sorry... I should have knocked..." I step back, feeling bad for just barging in, though, it doesn't seem like he was doing much.

"Yeah, you should have." He says sitting back down on the bed and rubbing his nose with his finger as if he had been crying and trying to clear up any signs of it. "Sorry, come in..."

"Do you wanna talk about it?"

"No, I'd really rather not if I'm honest."

"That's okay, we can just sit."

I can see the pain in his face. Though to him, it probably doesn't seem like pain rather, fear. He shouldn't be this worried about tonight. If his girlfriend cares about him at all then she should at least give him a chance and not be angry with him, not to the point of making him cry.

"Actually, I should tell you that-um... she's going to be late. Well... I don't know if she's going to come at all anymore." His face shows the sadness he feels after he says that.

"I'm sorry, Zayn..."

"Don't be... It's fine. I understand why she doesn't want to come."

"Because of me?"

"Because of me."

"I don't understand how this could have anything to do with you without me."

"Well, I started defending you to her... she was upset saying that you'd make a move on me but I told her that wouldn't happen because you respect our relationship but she insisted you would. Anyway, I told her that you were a good person and that you wouldn't do that and she got angry with me, of course, said that if I thought you were so great then I should forget her and be with you..." He chuckled a little bit at the end but, I could tell it wasn't because any of this was funny, but simply because he can't handle any of this and feels obligated to lighten up the mood with a bit of laughter.

It doesn't work though.

I look down to my hands and try to think of something to say. It's hard. I know that this is hard for her because Zayn's her boyfriend and he's going to marry me. But in the same light, she should trust him and come to meet me if she has any doubt. She'll see that there isn't anything going on and maybe it will be easier to understand. It's my fault in the end, whether he'll admit it or not, it's my fault.
