Ryan woke to the sound of Jade unchaining him. When she saw that he was awake, she let out a sigh of relief. The last thing she wanted was to drag him out of the chamber.
"Everything okay?" she asked Ryan. He nodded.
"Good, because I need you to follow me," she told him.
Ryan was feeling very hungry but he knew that it was the wrong time to ask for something to eat. He bit his lip and obeyed Jade. He kept consoling himself with the fact that he was no longer on the streets. The dark atmosphere invaded his soul once again but he felt empowered by that feeling. Jade had led him out of the chamber room and they were walking the hallow halls of the building once again, with closed doors everywhere. He had a million questions in his head, but he wasn't sure whether it was the right time to ask them. She led him to a staircase which led upstairs.
The room upstairs was surrounded with glass windows and it had a slide in door. Ryan glanced inside and what he saw sent shivers down his spine. He saw training machines that didn't even look that they were meant for humans, but what made him feel even more uneasy was the fact that he saw actual humans training with the machines.
"You'll get more answers to the questions in your head once we step inside the training room," Jade told him. He nodded and followed her inside. As soon as they entered the room everybody stopped what they were doing a lined up in straight vertical lines. For a moment, Ryan felt like he was in a military camp.
"These people were recruited just like you," Jade started off, "they each have a unique trait, or power. They will form part of the army that our Creator will use to destroy this city. They will follow his orders and his orders only." Ryan was speechless. He looked at the people that were supposed to destroy the city, they did not seem like fighters.
"You on the other hand will have your own task force so to speak..."
"Task force?" an astounded Ryan asked.
Yes, a team just for you to lead. A team that will have the ultimate task," Jade responded with an evil twinkle in her eye. Ryan gazed at Jade more confused than ever, he did not understand a word of what she was trying to explain.
"In normal circumstances I would have given you some time to digest all of this, but unfortunately we don't have time," the man suddenly said. Ryan turned around and saw the masked man standing by the door. He watched as the man approached the both of them.
"Didn't I tell you that I would change your life Ryan?"
"You did but..."
"So now you are going to have to trust me even more. Every single person in this room has a purpose, a mission. These people are going to tear this town apart piece by piece by piece! Under my command we will not fail because I know how much they have all suffered and they know that I am the light that will help them all feel the satisfaction of brutalizing every single soul that made them suffer hell! The whole city will know exactly who we are. No stone in this city will be left unturned until we become its rulers and when that happens, the WHOLE WORLD will be put on notice !"
Ryan felt adrenaline run throughout his body as his listened to his new boss speak. The people in the city had done so much to him and thought of sitting right on top of the mountain motivated him more than ever. There was a time in a distant past that he actually loved his home, but all it took was a couple of betrayals and being abandoned by the one he had loved the most in his life for him to change his mind.
"So when do we get started?" he asked ambitiously.
"First you need to discover what gifts I have given to you, then you need who you will lead. I have chosen two specific people to join you, after that, this city will be ours!"
Ryan looked across the room and looked back at Jade and his boss. He slowly smiled and for the very first time since he had met his boss and his assistant he felt more alive than ever.
"Let's get to work then," he told them. Jade and the masked man nodded in agreement.
"Back to training everyone!" Jade ordered, then she turned to Ryan, "you will train with the boss in a different room for now. He is the only one that can show you what you received."
"With that said follow me Ryan, oh and Jade, there was a little incident in town earlier on today. Apparently we've got ourselves a tornado former. Track him down and bring him here. He belongs with us." Jade nodded and quickly made her way out of the training room.
"Let's go Ryan, as I said, we need to start now." Ryan followed the masked man into a smaller training room which was inside the main room.
"Hey boss, you never told me your name," he said.
"My name isn't of any importance right now boy," the masked man replied as he shut the door, "now... Let's get down to business..."
"Yeah before we 'get down to business' I do have a request," Ryan told his boss confidently.
"What could be more urgent than discovering what gifts I gave you?" the masked man asked in shock.
"Look boss don't get me wrong, I already feel indebted to you for the rest of my life. You took me off the streets, I was starving, weak, dirty, smelly, people literally blocked their noses when they walked past me, but you took all of that away. You have clothed me and given me a physical upgrade. I'm sure that no one from my past will recognize me..."
"And you haven't seen anything yet Ryan! So what could you possibly want?" Ryan ran his fingers through his long hair before answering his boss.
"I'd like to shave off my hair boss. I mean, I feel like everything about my body has forgotten about my past, everything but my hair. It needs to go." Ryan's boss remained silent for a few seconds and that caused Ryan to regret his request.
"I wish I knew what you are thinking," Ryan thought to himself, "with that mask, it's impossible to observe anything!"
"So I talk about giving you greatness and you worry about your hair?" the masked man finally replied. "I talk about taking over this city, getting the ultimate revenge and you are more concerned about your looks? I offer you a gateway to infinite power and you are more concerned about erasing your past?"
"Euh... I..." Before Ryan could continue his sentence, the masked man silenced him.
"It's okay, I understand that all this must be overwhelming for you and since you are my key asset I will allow you to shave off your hair. If you are happy, you will deliver when needed right?" Ryan nodded immediately, if there was one thing he learnt whilst being on the streets; never bite that hands that feed you.
"Very well, you can get rid of your hair after this training session. Are you ready?"
"Good, now get ready Ryan, as from now, you will never be the same again."
