Later that night, everyone decided to open up the liquor cabinet and relax. Tony, Steve, Fury, Maria Hill, Nat, Thor, Bucky, Wanda, Bruce, Clint, Rhodes, T'Challa, and Eve all sat around the common room with glasses in hand. Laughing could be heard throughout the entire building. Eve just sat back in her chair and watched while no one really seemed to notice.
"But if you put the hammer in an elevator," Steve started.
"It would still go up," Tony finished for him while Thor began to chuckle along with everyone else in the room.
"Elevator's not worthy," Steve replied while staring at Thor's hammer placed on the coffee table.
"Can't stop thinking about me, can you?" Ciro said as he appeared in the chair next to Eve. No one in the room looked his way or acted like they heard him, making Eve confused.
"Oh, don't worry. They can't see or hear me. You're not the only one with a party trick," Ciro said before standing up. He walked out of the room and out on the large patio outside. Eve turned herself invisible and slowly followed him.
"Did you think you were the only one?" Ciro asked her as she walked onto the patio.
"I never considered more," Eve admitted as she crossed her arms. "You can control air too."
"Yes," he answered. "You always been this intuitive?" Ciro asked her. After a brief pause, he continued, "would you like to learn more, Eveline?"
"Why are you doing this?" Eve asked as she took a step closer to him.
"As I said before, I want you," Dodge said.
"Together, we did every mission in under half an hour. Do you know how easily we could pull off literally anything you could think of?" Ciro turned to talk to her, taking strides towards her, causing a fire to heat in her hands. The sight made him stop.
"I'm not doing anything for anyone except myself," Eve spat at him. "You can keep your information. If it's anything like your I.Q., it's minimal," Eve said over her shoulder as she walked back into the common room. Laughter now flooded her ears again as T'Challa, Bucky, and Steve were having a weightlifting contest with random pieces of furniture. Eve walked over to the counter, grabbed the closest bottle and headed downstairs.
Once on the ground level, Eve let herself be visible again while taking a swig of the bottle. She pulled out her phone and earbuds to listen to music. All she needed was any type of distraction to just think of something else. As she took another drink from the bottle, Eve sat on the ground to look out at the night sky through the glass wall.
When her bottle was half empty, she heard footsteps from behind her. Bucky came and sat next to her. As Eve looked over at him, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing out here all alone?" Bucky asked with a little hint of a slur before kissing her cheek.
"Waiting for a handsome guy like you," Eve replied with a smile.
Eve woke up in the middle of the night to see the downstairs area she remembered sitting in with Bucky hours before. The half-empty bottle was now three-quarters empty next to her. Eve then realized she was cuddled into Bucky's side as he was knocked out cold.
Eve slowly sat up, trying to not antagonize her headache. She looked around to see the room is empty and the lights to the common room were still on. Eve then stood while carefully picking up Bucky by pushing a bed of air under him.
She made her way to the stairs with a bottle in hand and Bucky trailing behind. Once back in the common room, she saw all of the Avengers passed out in different places in different stacks of people. Eve set her bottle on the table and walked down the hallway to her room with Bucky. She set him on her bed after pulling back the blankets. Eve then climbs in with him and covers them up with blankets as Bucky begins to stir.
"Eve?" Bucky asks mostly asleep. He reaches out and wraps his arms around her, pulling her half onto him, then falling back asleep. Eve felt herself relax into him as she took a deep breath. Out of everything that has happened, being back with Bucky has helped.
Two hours later, Eve jerked awake from her sleep, pushing herself up off of Bucky's chest. Bucky reacted by quickly grabbing her shoulders to keep her in her place. His now fully awake eyes scanned her face quickly to see what was going on. All he saw was her concerned face looking at him.
"How long?" Bucky asked her referring to her dream. Eve's face began to look like she wanted to cry so he pulled her back down. His metal arm kept her cool while his right hand ran through her hair. Eve was alert as she hugged him tighter to get rid of her dream, which he reciprocated by pulling her closer.
"How long?" Bucky asked her again gently.
"Since I got back," Eve whispered with breaks in her voice.
"They aren't real, I got you," Bucky comforted her. What he didn't know, is that they were real. Too real to forget about.
"I love you," Eve whispered. Bucky leaned down to press his lips against her forehead.
"I love you too, Eve."
It took Bucky twenty minutes to drift back to sleep, meanwhile, Eveline stayed awake. She was too scared to sleep again, the dream still playing out in her mind uncontrollably as she held onto Bucky tighter while he slept.
