Part 7: Sophie's Parents

The following day, you were much better and Sophie is teaching you how to act when her parents arrive.

Sophie: Okay. My parents are going to be here tomorrow. You need to be at your best behavior in order for them to give you their approval.

She adjusts the tie on the suit she made you wear.

???: Sophie?

Sophie turns to see two Will-O-The-Wisps, like her.

Sophie: Mother. Father. It is a pleasure to see you again.

Sophie's Mom: Who is this?

Sophie: My boyfriend, Y/N.

Y/N: It's an honor.

You bow.

Sophie's Dad: Well you're well-mannered.

???: Why is this... Person with my betrothed?

You see a guy with black hair and red markings across is chalk white face.

Sophie: Gustav. This is my boyfriend. Meaning our arrangement is cancelled.

Gustav: Hm. Well I wish to test this boy. If he survives, he will prove his love for you is greater than my own.

Y/N: ... I agree.

The five of you go to the gym and Gustav catches fire.

Gustav: Good luck.

He blasts fire at you and you jump out of the way.

Sophie's Mom: He is quite quick on his feet. But he won't win by dodging...

Your Thoughts: Damn. I need to be cautious... He obviously doesn't want me to live from this.

Gustav: I must admit, I would've already won by now if you weren't fast. I give you credit for that. But that will not be enough to beat me!

He fires off several fireballs.

You try to dodge but one hits you directly.

Sophie: Y/N!

Gustav stares at the smoke cloud from the attack.

Gustav: In the end, I am victorious as always.

Meanwhile, the Headmaster and Miss Hart watch from a magic mirror.

Miss Hart: They killed him.

She gets ready to go to the gym but the Headmaster grabs her arm.

Headmaster: Hm... It is not quite over yet.

Gustav sees something move in the smoke.

Gustav: There is no way he could be alive...

Sure enough, you rise from the smoke but your jacket and dress shirt were singed off, this shows off black markings across your body.

Miss Hart: But I thought he was a human.

Headmaster: He's part human. However, the other half... Is much more... He is also half High Demon.

Miss Hart: But... The High Demons are all extinct.

Headmaster: Well I think we were proven wrong.

You vanish and slam Gustav into the ground. You then release a massive burst of magic that completely incapacitates him. Your markings fade away as you shake your head.

Y/N: What happened?

Sophie: You won.

Y/N: I did?

Sophie: It just happened.

Y/N: Everything seems like a blur...

Sophie's Mom: Well I'm glad you found a man who can protect you, dear. We'll give this boy our blessings and call off the arranged marriage.

Sophie: Thank you, Mother.

Her parents and Gustav leave and you try to process what happened.

Miss Hart: Headmaster, what does this mean?

Headmaster: He is the key to bringing together monsters and humans.
