"Hey, Kita," Ryan said in a loud whisper as he tapped her shoulder.
"Huh, what?" said Kita as she woke up slowly.
"Arcee's back together."
Kita was instantly awake. "Is she ok?"
"She hasn't rebooted. Ratchet thinks she's too low on energon. We're leaving for power sub-station in a few minutes."
"Ok. Give me a second to tie my hair back, and grab my boots and jacket."
"Sure. No Problem." Ryan walked to his cot and grabbed his jacket.
Kita ran her hand through her hair. It was still damp. I couldn't have been asleep very long. With nothing to do after dropping off dinner, she'd bathed and washed her hair in the restroom sink. She changed her underwear out, too. To the sexiest and functional underwear Walmart carried. I hope I don't scare Arcee.
After putting on her boots and jacket, Kita met the others outside the bay door.
"You want to ride with me and Ratchet?" said Ryan with a hopeful grin.
"Shouldn't you be sleeping? Because that's what I'm going to do."
"Yeah. I just haven't seen much of you."
"I'm sure we'll have plenty of time to hang out while we wait for them to recharge. I'll ride with Bumblebee."
"Hot diggity dog," said Bumblebee.
"But, I get to veto the radio station."
Bumblebee made a disappointed sound.
"Let's go," said Ratchet. He transformed and Ryan climbed aboard.
Bumblebee followed, and Kita slid inside the wide door.
Ratchet exited the lab and turned away from town. Bumblebee followed into the darkness.
"So, how does this thing work?" said Kita to Ryan as Ratchet and Bumblebee set up the energon converter in the electrical sub-station. They stood watching from outside the perimeter fence, as the area was too dangerous for them.
"I don't totally understand it, but by using a series of electromagnetic fields and a heat source gas is created. The gas is ionized, that's the important part for the Transformers."
"And they drink it up?"
"I have no idea. Those glass tubes are what they collect it in. I assume they ingest it some way. Ratchet said it's going to take a while to collect all we need."
There wasn't much around them, mostly tall dry grass and the occasional small tree. A housing development glowed brightly from beyond a neighboring hill. Kita walked around the corner of the sub-station. Ryan hurried to catch up.
"Where are we going?" said Ryan to Kita.
"I'm looking for a comfortable place to sit down."
Kita found a rocky outcropping that let her dangle her feet over the edge and let her see the lights of Angel City. Ryan sat down next to her.
"Thanks for all your help with Arcee," said Kita.
"Hey, no problem. It's been cool. I've learned a lot from Ratchet. How they construct things is way different than how we do it. Well, we kind of do it their way, just cruder."
"And how do they build stuff?"
"By layers. The lay it down a layer of atoms at a time. Like how we do 3D printing."
