In this week's news, @Reffster will be going on hiatus next week to focus on the Open Novella contest. But don't worry, he'll be back! In the meantime, though, we'll miss ya, bud. Good luck!

Trios, your assignment is to read one chapter from each of your partners' books.

Duo, your assignment is to read two chapters from each other's books.

If you finish reading your partner's book or want to switch groups, send me a PM.

Unable to complete the assignments or need an extension? Notify both myself and your partners, in advance. Failure to complete the assignments without notifying anyone is unacceptable.

When your partner's book is the spotlight novel, you must read your usual weekly chapters plus the mandatory two chapters.

For the question of the week, answer the following queston, for what you've read so far of Queen of the Night and elaborate on it.

In fantasy works - or any genre, for that matter - there is a tried-and-true pattern, like the hero sets off on a quest after gaining [insert whatever] to save the world. How do y'all make that trope different? Interesting characters with askew personalities or motivations? Start differently? Be specific. Give examples.

If you have a different question in mind for your book, feel free to message me about it in advance, when you see that your week is coming.

When you are done reading both the spotlight and your teammates' chapters, please comment and answer the question(s) of your choice.

You have until Tuesday, February 4th to complete this assignment.
