Chapter 54

When I woke up the next morning nauseous. I looked over and Blake and the dog were laying with me. I got up and ran to the bathroom vomiting what I ate last night into the toilet. I sat back on the floor and started crying. I knew that I was pregnant and it scared the shit out of me. There was a CVS about seven miles away. I flushed the toilet and checked my watch 6:45. I walked into the bedroom and woke Blake up.

"I'm going on a ride. I'll be back in a couple hours." I said giving him a quick kiss he nodded and went back to sleep. I grabbed my backpack then my gun and put some extra ammo in my backpack. I went outside and lead Majesty out of the backyard. The boys were going to finish the fence today so they would move the animals later. I closed the gate behind us and mounted Majesty who began to trot right away. We trotted to the gate and I opened it then closed it behind us. I let Majesty set the pace which was a gallop. She galloped for about ten minutes before I slowed her down a little bit. We managed to get to the store in about twenty minutes because I had altered between a trot a canter and a gallop. I dismounted and went into the store. We had already been here so it was unlocked, I pulled out my gun and took out the two zombies that were inside. I did a quick sweep of all the aisles and grabbed some things that I though we would need and two boxes of pregnancy tests. I walked back out and got back on the horse and we headed back to the house. We got home at around eight  and I decided to bring Majesty to the fence. Turned out the boys had already moved the animals and set up a place for their food and water. I took off Majesty's reins and carried them back to the house leaving them on the porch. It was almost March I think and it was still cold out, not cold enough for heavy jackets but cold enough for semi thick sweatshirts. I walked inside and was immediately questioned by Blake.

"Skylar. Where the hell did you go?" He asked angrily.

"Calm down. I needed to go on a run. I told you when I left." I said.

"What did you need that you couldn't wait for?" He said his voice getting louder.

"Lower your damn voice Blake." I said glaring at him. I walked upstairs and he followed. I emptied my backpack on the bed and there was more water, a few things of drink mixes, Advil, bandaids, and the tests.

"What? Why do you... are you?" Blake asked.

"I don't know." I replied.

"When would it have happened?"

"The quickie after my shower." I responded picking up the tests. "Now stay. I need to take this." I said going to the bathroom. I waited ten minutes just to be sure. When I checked it was positive. I started crying and walked back to my bedroom. Blake saw that I was crying.

"Positive?" He asked and I nodded defeated. He wrapped me in a hug and tried to calm me down as I continued crying which turned into violent sobbing. After about five minutes I heard Dukes paws and he came and sat right next to me. I didn't know what to do. I'm pregnant, what if what happened to Mia happens to this baby? What if it turns inside me? What if I get hurt again? Again all the things that could go wrong were running through my head. I stayed in my room all day, the dog never leaving my side. I told Blake to go tell everyone what was going on and to get me something to drink. I couldn't get my feet under me I was to lightheaded. I was scared, scared that I would die or that my baby would die. At around ten Blake had come in and laid down to talk.

"What do you want to do?" He asked laying down on the other side of Duke.

"Well we have no choice." I said.

"Okay okay, well maybe we should talk about finding a bigger house within this place. One with more bedrooms." He replied.

"Well this house does have a basement we could move the Liv, Ava, Parker, and Jordan down there. It's really big. Then Luke and Landon could have their own room and both of the babies could share one of the rooms."

"That's a good idea. We can do a run and get the four mattresses for the kids for the basement and then a toddler bed for Neil for when he's old enough and then put a twin in the other room. Maybe we can lay down carpet in the basement." He said. We spent the next few hours talking about what would happen and how we would get the house in shape and how we should start getting baby clothes and teething rings and formula every time we go out. The formula has an expiration time of I think about one year so and this started in June of last year so we would need to find the ones dated later. He fell asleep about three hours later but I was still up and thinking. I was happy about the baby no doubt but I was also scared because we were not as prepared here as we were at the other base. I don't think I fell asleep until I could see the sun.
