Eve woke up to the sun shining through the curtains. She realized she was on her bed under her blankets. She also noticed the joining door is open.
Eve felt a small amount of disappointment not waking up to Bucky, but he is only a couple feet away.
She looked at the alarm clock to see it's only 7 in the morning. Eve noticed it was still dark in Bucky's room meaning his curtains were shut. Moments later she realized that there was tossing and turning sound coming from his room. Bucky must be awake.
Quietly, she got out of bed and peered into his room to see he is on the far side of the bed. Eve ran into the room and jumped on the bed to lay down next to him. Bucky jolted up and looked at Eve to see her laying next to him, smiling.
"Christ you scared me," Bucky said before laying back down and resting his head on her chest while draping his arm over her. Eve ran her hand up and down his back, slowly lulling him back to sleep before she spoke.
"You shot me in the leg," Eve remembered. Bucky lifted his head up to look at her.
"I just remembered you shot me in the leg."
"It was just a mission to get you to stop. I'm sorry," Bucky said and kissed her lips. "Speaking of missions we have another one tonight, so we can sleep all day."
Eve put her hand on the back of Bucky's head to pull him back to her lips again. Slowly, she pushed him to roll over on top of him with his hands on her hips.
"You know, we always end up like this," Bucky said with a smile that couldn't fade. Eve kissed him again.
"Are you complaining? Because I can stop," Eve barely got out before Bucky kissed her again.
When the four of them arrived at the club, Steve turned to Nat, Eve, and Bucky to tell them what was going to happen.
"This place is packed with people so we have to use these earpieces to communicate." Steve handed Bucky two so Bucky laid one in his hand for Eve to grab. She brushed her hand along his and looked up at his face to see him staring at their hands. Eve then put her earpiece in. It was small enough you couldn't see it from the outside.
"The guy who owns this place is said to come down from his office and pick a girl for the night. We are going to use Natasha as bait. Keep your eyes open because no one knows what he really looks like. You ready?" Steve asked before everyone nodded.
Eve fixes her shoelace on her boot as everyone hopped out. Seconds later, Bucky opened her door for her and held out his hand. Eve took it and stepped down out of the SUV with a little smile on each of their faces. They walk in together behind Steve and Natasha.
Once inside, Natasha motions at the huge crowd of people dancing to Eve. Eve suddenly had a wave of nerves flood over her as she followed Natasha into the crowd. Steve and Bucky went separate ways at the two different bars on opposite sides.
"Don't have too much fun out there," Steve said in a joking manner.
"I can show you how," Natasha replied and looked at Steve through the heads. Bucky kept his watch out for Eve. He could stop himself from being envious. He didn't want someone else to approach her.
Bucky noticed Eve find a group of girls to dance with. He couldn't take his eyes off of her. Occasionally he'd look around but he always found his way back to her.
Around 15 minutes went by, many girls approached Steve and also Bucky in that time. Natasha has a few offers but she knew they weren't the one she was after.
"Alvaro is Hydra, I repeat, Alvaro is Hydra," Nick Fury rang in each of their earpieces. How could this happen?
Bucky began glancing around the crowd to find were Eve was, when all the sudden a spear of ice skimmed by his head and hit a man behind him. He quickly turned to see a man with a gun and silencer dead on the bar floor. Bucky turned back to see Eve with her hand held out.
They made eye contact before Eve's face grimaced as she arched her back. A shooting pain shot throughout her body through the needle in her back. In a split second, the crowd disappeared from Steve, Natasha, and Bucky's vision as they watched a man catch her by the waist.
"Run," Eve got out before she collapsed on the man and the crowd reappeared.
"No!" Bucky yelled in a panic as he took off into the crowd, plowing people to the side. Both him and Natasha made it to the same spot to realize she was gone. They looked towards the front to see Steve run up the staircase. All three of them ran as fast as they could, but they were too late. The helicopter was already in the air and out of reach.
"I can't believe I let that happen," Bucky said full of remorse and disdain at himself. "I had one job. I let her down. She trusted me and now she will never again."
"Buck, it's not your fault. You had no control," Steve tried.
"You couldn't have known. Do your job and help get her back," Natasha comforted him.
"Where would they have taken her? They wouldn't have taken her back to their compound, they know we want her too." Bucky put his head in his hands. He could feel the panic attack setting in on him. He stood up and started pacing the room before Steve stopped him to bring him into a hug.
"Wherever she is, we will find her, Buck," Steve comforted him. They let go of each other and looked at Natasha.
"Let's get to work," she said.
