As the pirates disappear Jack and I notice the treasure. We both walk around examining the artifacts of all kinds.
I must admit, Jack , I thought I had ye figured.” Barbossa comments. “But it turns out that you’re a hard man to predict.”
“Me? I'm dishonest.” Jack admits. “And a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly . . . stupid.” Without warning Jack unsheathes a pirate’s sword and throws it to Will. Drawing my own sword, I fight off the pirate that rushes at me. Jack starts fighting with Barbossa, moving away from Will and I.
“You’re off the edge of the map, mate. Here there be monsters.” Barbossa snarls. I try to find a weakness on the pirate I’m fighting. They can’t die, so there’s no point trying to kill him. If I could knock the pirate out . . . as soon as the thought comes to mind I set the plan in motion. When he strikes on the left side of his body, the right is open. Waiting, I roundhouse in hard in the ribs. He grunts bending over. Raising my leg high, I bring my heel down on the back of the pirates skull. Groaning the man falls to the ground.
“Mess with me, get my thorns.” I mutter, quite proud of my comback. Another pirate rushes toward me, sword at the ready. I block his blow, trying to force the sword out of the way. The pirate uses his large body mass to his advantage, driving the blade toward my head. Sweat starts to form along my brow. Shifting to the side, I give the man a kick. He turns, rushing again. I barely jump out of the way. The man thrust his sword again. I block the attempt the best I can. Shifting forward, I punch the man, grab his shoulder, knee his guts and elbow his neck. He falls to the ground, unmoving. Not dead, but knocked out.
“You can’t beat me, Jack.” Barbossa’s voice echoes through the cave. Jack thrusts his sword forward, impaling the pirate. Barbossa sighs and, taking out the sword, plunging it into Jack.
“No!” I scream, my body freezing. Jack staggers back into the moonlight to reveal a skeleton.
“That’s interesting.” He says, revealing the medallion. “I couldn’t resist, mate.” Barbossa and Jack fight continue to fight.
“So what now, Jack Sparrow?” Barbossa asks. “Will it be it two immortals locked in an epic battle until Judgment Day and trumpets sound? Hmm?”
“Or you could surrender.” Jack suggests.
“Arr.” Barbossa laughs, running after Jack. Movement behind me, causes me to turn. A new pirate, comes toward me, backing me toward Will.
“I’m gonna teach you the meaning of pain.” One growls.
“Do you like pain?” My sister voice enters my hearing. Using a heavy staff, she hits the pirate. “Try wearing a corset.” Looking at Jack, said pirate walks through the moonlight, showing his skeleton form.
“Whose side is Jack on?” She asks. I shrug my shoulders.
“At the moment?” Will doesn’t finish the sentence. Working together we string 3 pirates together, stick a grenade into the middle one and push them out of the moonlight.
“No fair.” The middle pirate utters as they explode. Jack cuts his hand and bleeds on medallion, tosses it to Will. Will stands above the chest, as Elizabeth and I move to join him. Barbossa aims pistol at Elizabeth. A growl echoes from my throat. With a loud boom Jack shoots Barbossa while he’s looking at Elizabeth.
“Ten years you carry that pistol, and now you waste your shot.” Barbossa sounds disappointed.
“He didn’t waste it.” Will says as he lets two medallions drop into the chest. Barbossa drops his sword and looks at the blood spreading from his wound.
“I feel . . . cold.” He says, falling to the ground dead. A green apple rolls from his hand. The curse has now been lifted. Jack and I exchange looks. We start to roam around the treasure again. A sudden pain fills my abdomen. Pressing my hand to the spot, it comes away bloody.
“Jack.” I gasp, a wave of pain rushing through my body. Jack rushes over to me, checking the wound.
“Easy Rose. It’s not deep.”
“Well I can imagine. Where do you think those swords have been?” A pained laugh escapes me.
“Alright. Lets go find some treasure.”
Digging through the piles of gold, I find a necklace with a sapphire pendant. The jewel is shaped like a tear drop. Checking my wound, I wipe my bloody hand on my shirt. Jack swaggers over to Will. He has strings of gold around his neck, a crown on his head and holds a gold goblet.
“If you were waiting for the opportune moment . . . that was it.” We all look the direction Elizabeth walked. “Now, if you’ll be so kind, I’d be much obliged if you’d drop us off at our ship.” We climb into a long boat. Will grabs the oars, rowing us out of the caves. The Black Pearl is no where to be seen. The only ship in sight is the Dauntless. Jack looks at me. We never wanted to go back onto the Dauntless.
“I’m sorry, Jack. Isabella.” Elizabeth sounds genuinely sad.
“They done what’s right by them. Can’t expect more than that.” Jack comments. I nod in response.
“Still would have liked them to wait.” I mutter, knowing that Jack will be hung and I will have to be lady. If we can't escape that is.
