֍15: Lost֍ (UPDATED 10/08/2022)

~TORREN~

The incident left her shell-shocked. Luca yelled at her but the reason why was something she wasn't able to pinpoint. Redirecting her focus was the only thing needed at this moment to collect herself and process what happened.

A rather tall older blond gentleman called him son, and she was sure she heard the man ask a few questions about who she was to him. Torren was at a loss for why he got angry with her. She introduced Luca to her family. Why he freaked out when a person appeared and out of nowhere called him 'son', she wondered what it was about the stranger that made her lover so angry.

After running the scene over and over again in her mind, Torren recalled that on the first night they had sex, Luca told her that he had no family. He made a point of stating that his mother gave him away so he really didn't have anyone.

If that were the truth, why did this stranger just show up and call him 'son'? Why did Luca get so angry at the man and most importantly, why did he lose his temper when all she was trying to do was get to know more about him and his people?  Those questions hounded her as she walked to the table where they normally met for lunch.

The longer she mulled over the whole episode, the more she felt her temper flaring up.

Only her parents were safe whenever they raised their voices at Torren. She had never once in her life been considered a pushover and she wasn't about to start now.

Torren reached their designated spot. For a moment, she waited as if nothing had transpired. She sat in stunned silence until her dissection of the situation pointed out the disrespect in his voice during the negative interaction. Again, she recalled how Luca yelled at her and immediately her blood begin to simmer.

Apparently, he confused her with someone who was in need of correction as if he believed himself to be somebody's daddy. Yelling at her like she was a little kid went too far and that was the reason she desperately needed to get away from him for a little bit.

Torren was concerned that the man who made the decision to behave like a rude asshole and to speak to her as if she wasn't worthy of his respect,  was in no way the same man she had fallen for.

The more she mulled over the fact that she had initially done what he'd instructed her to do, her temper feasted on itself the longer she replayed the scene over and over again in her mind. She felt the anger double and then triple in her brain.

She raced through a range of emotions from embarrassed... surprised... and finally, she realized she was totally and completely pissed off. The anger she felt was destructive.

Overwhelmed by everything pulling at her, Torren could no longer resist the drive to leave before something was said that she would later regret.

When she finally decided to leave the food court, her legs moved quickly to exit before he caught up with her.

Torren reached the elevator without grabbing Lucin's attention. The ride up to her office did nothing to cool her temper. After the heated interaction, it seemed as if her entire day was destined to be screwed up.

"Hey, girl. What's wrong with you? Did your boo thang make you mad?" Anita asked in a joking manner. Torren cut her eyes at the woman rolled them to emphasize what she was thinking.

"I'm not in the mood. Ok?" She warned. Her friend rolled her eyes in response. Anita shrugged her shoulders as she turned right back around and walked out of the office door as quickly as she had appeared. There was no use arguing with Torren when it was obvious that she was ready for a fight.

It had become customary for Luca and Torren to share a ride home. She was still upset at the end of her workday spurring her to head out by herself.
