~BROKEN~
The white-hot searing pain was nothing compared to what he had already endured. Bright red blood spewed from his wrists as he leaned back against the wall for support. The razor slid from his hand hitting the floor with a loud thud. His latte-colored skin faded to a greenish-gray hue as the life source seeped from his body.
The only real signs of life were the bright red splatters of Luca's blood on his legs and the surfaces surrounding him. He allowed his arms to rest down beside him allowing more blood to forge a path down to the pool it created on the floor.
Tears streamed from his eyes as he slumped over and eventually fell to the floor. His face hit the porcelain tile with a heavy thud. Luca had one last thought as his eyes fluttered closed. He wished to see his grandparents one last time before he died. He knew he wouldn't meet them in heaven, so he prayed to see them before his soul was consumed by hellfire.

~LOST & FOUND~
When he opened his eyes once again, he was in the psych ward of a local hospital. The doctors and nursing staff attempted to find out any family contact information he might know, but Luca refused. His mother and father had no idea that their ongoing war placed him in harm's way first and then drove him to do things he nearly killed himself to run away from.
After a thirty-day mandatory psychiatric hold, he was referred to an outreach center for follow-up services. A six-month program that helped him find a job and enroll in the local community college also walked him through the steps of applying for financial assistance with him. They provided him with a grant to pay for his books and tuition for one year.
Once the counselor was made aware of how Luca was taken advantage of by a so-called brother in a local church, he made sure the young man was provided with every opportunity to change his life. The program was designed to help dislocated individuals find themselves. They made sure he had a place to live and an allowance to purchase what he needed to start school. The scholarship freed up some of the school funding and he was able to live and attend class on his financial assistance.
The organization made it mandatory for its participants to attend counseling services twice a week as part of the requirements to receive assistance. Luca followed the rules to the letter. But, it wasn't because he thought he needed counseling. It was simply because he decided it was better to follow the rules.
Because of the efforts of the people who helped him attend college, his life was forever changed.
Luca learned to survive on his own and never placed himself in the position to rely on another person for his livelihood. He maintained a 4.0 GPA until he graduated from the Master of Business Finance program.
