*Filler Chapter* Lmao oh yeah, don't focus too much on the story's real life timeline. 😭
"Can I have the biggest sandwich y'all have? No ketchup, no mustard though. Large fry, large fruit punch mixed with sprite. A cookies and cream whichamacallit...fuck...ice cream thing. And chicken nuggets, I don't care how many." Jasmine ordered, she turned and looked at the rest of us.
"What do y'all want?"
"Chicken nuggets!" Leon screamed.
"Apple slices, got it."
"No!" Leon whined. I don't think chick-fil-a gives out apple slices anyway...
"Chicken sandwich with pickles, large coke, zero sugar, um...I'll have the same ice cream as you, and medium fry." I told her.
"Give us like two things of the what? Ten piece chicken nuggets things, um...two small—no one small one medium fry, small lemonades, and what she ordered." Jasmine finished. The girl behind the counter looked like she was sweating as she tried punching in our order.
"To here or-or to go?" She asked.
"To go." Jasmine answered.
"Oh, and don't forget a bunch of sauces." Jasmine added. The girl nodded quickly and finished putting up the order. After giving us our receipt with our order number on it and Jasmine paying, we went to sit at a booth while we waited. I glanced outside at the large black vehicles parked by the doors of the small restaurant.
"Security bothering you?" Jasmine asked me. She'd given Leon and Daniel iPads to play on while we waited, they were so focused on the games they were playing, the place could be shot down—God forbid—and they wouldn't even realize it.
"A little, yeah." I said honestly.
"Well, if it makes you feel any better, Leo told me this morning it should be just for a couple of weeks. They'll have the guy in the grave soon." Jasmine spoke quietly, there weren't many people around, but she still kept it hushed even though she technically wasn't giving anything away.
I smiled slightly.
"That's good." I said. She nodded as she pulled out her phone.
"You know what I hate most about your brother's job?" She asked me.
"I can't have a damn Instagram." She said. None of us can, I heard Katherine got away with it for awhile before having to delete hers. Our families are completely off the grid except for anything the paparazzi catches us in, and since we don't have social media, they can't find us as easily so we barely show up anywhere.
"I wouldn't know what it was like." I shrugged.
"Well, you'd be entertained while sitting here." She said. I shrugged my shoulders. Technology, despite me being good at it, was never really my thing. I didn't use it to entertain myself in the way Jasmine's talking about.
"Are you gonna have another kid?" I asked her, I wanted to change the topic. Not talk about the Mexicans, but talk about something happier.
"Not any time soon, and I want a girl but your brother's only giving me boys and I'm a little pissed about it. But if our third kid isn't a girl, I'm going to the damn doctor myself and having her pick out the girl sperm and go Jane the Virgin on y'all and get inseminated." She said.
"Oh." I wasn't expecting that answer.
Our order was called and Jasmine and I stood up to go get it. After grabbing the to go bags Jasmine called the boys who weren't listening.
"Let's see how long it'll take them to realize we're gone." Jasmine said. I laughed and we walked outside to one of the tables and sat down, from where we were, we could see the boys clearly, and be able to walk in quickly.
Jasmine began pulling out food and eating, and so did I. She had her legs crossed and watched her sons closely.
"One time I left them in the adidas store and sat outside for about thirty minutes. I watched them rack up a tab on shoes that weren't even their sizes...ok this was last week." She sighed.
"How much was the tab?"
"I don't know, I didn't pay though." She told me.
We watched as Leon said something, then looked up. He looked around and spotted us outside. He pointed at us and said 'Hey!' I'm pretty sure that's what he said. He slid off the booth, iPad in hand, and made his way to the door.
"Oh you dumbass, you forgot your brother." Jasmine said. Leon suddenly turned around and ran to Daniel and grabbed him by his armpits, Daniel dropped his iPad on the floor and started crying, so Jasmine thought it'd be best to go get them.
"I knew I taught him better than that." Was the last thing I heard her say before she went inside.
I grabbed what was left of the food, threw away what we ate already, then watched as Jasmine picked up the iPad, and Daniel and grabbed Lad's hand.
In the car the boys ate in silence, I sat next to Leon while Daniel was next to Jasmine, it was a three row car so the seating worked.
Everyone else had already eaten by the time we'd gotten back to the house, considering Jasmine and the boys and I were just having a catch up day before they go back to Atlanta at the end of the week.
"Ok, you two need to take a nap, and I need...alcohol." Jasmine laughed. She carried Daniel in who was already half asleep and Leon didn't walk away from the car.
"Ion wanna take a nap." He said.
"Trust me bud, when you're my age, you'll pay people to let you take naps." Jasmine told him. She held out her hand and Leon took it. She also picked him up and kissed the top of his head then Daniels as she made her way into the house.
I walked in also and began making my way to my room, I had an essay to finish for class. It was due next week, but I wanted to finish it early.
"Lucia! We're about to watch a movie, want to come?" Tess asked me. She'd come out of nowhere and almost scared me.
The essay can wait.
We forgot our drinks at Chick-fil-a.
Y'all, I'm sick. I can't breathe, my throat hurts, it hurts to yawn and I've sneezed more times in the last 24 hours than I have in my entire life.
