Chapter 81

"Oh my God Briana! What did you do?!?!" I screamed.

As I held her, I just started crying uncontrollably. I can't believe she just jumped in front of that bullet.

I put her in the car and sped off to the hospital. When we got there, they rushed her into an operating room. I didn't know what to do, so I stood in the waiting room pacing back & forth. I sat down and put my head in my hands to calm myself down.

I decided to call Charlene but before I could dial her number, she called me.

me: hello?

her: where are y'all?

me: ...the hospital

her: why? Blake, what's wrong?!

me: Briana was...she was shot

her: what?!

me: she was shot

It got really quiet and then she hung up. I just sat in the waiting room staring at the wall, trying to figure out why she would do this.

After what seemed like the longest hour of my life, a doctor came around the corner.

"Mr. Griffin?"

"How is she? Is she gonna be okay?" I asked frantically.

"She's gonna be just fine. We were able to retrieve the bullet and stop the bleeding," he said.

"Thank God," I whispered.

"I gotta say your girlfriend is really lucky," he said.

"Why do you say that?" I asked.

"The bullet was really close to piercing her lung and she could have died. We would like to keep her here for a few days to monitor her but if you want, you're welcome to go in and see her."

"Th-thank you."

I walked down the hall to the room Bri was in. I hesitated going in at first because I didn't wanna see her in a hospital bed again. Before I could open the door, everyone came rushing down the hall.

"Blake! Where is she?! Please tell me she's okay?!" her mom asked.

"The doctor said she's fine. She's in here," I said.

"Do you know who did this?" her dad asked.

"Some kid named Jessie."

"I wanna see her," Charlene said.

"I can't," her dad said, "I don't wanna see my daughter like this."

"I'll go in with you," I said.

We walked in the room and Bri's eyes were closed. I looked at Charlene and she was crying. I can only imagine how hard this is for her.

"I'll be right back," she said before walking out.

I stood by the window and decided to check my phone. I had some missed calls, text messages and tweets from people wanting to know if Bri & I are okay.

Damn, that was fast.

I put my phone back in my pocket and just stared out the window.

"Where am I?" I heard a groggy voice ask.

I turned around and Briana was awake. I smiled and walked over to her bedside.

"Do you not remember what happened?" I asked.
