Demi's POV

I know I'm the one who drove Joe to leave. I should have just dropped the issue with Gabi and rehab instead of fighting for my way. I have no idea where Joe is, but I know that he won't pick up if I try calling him again.

I play with the engagement ring on my hand. Joe and I still haven't picked a date for our wedding. I wonder if he even wants to get married now. If he doesn't come back, even just for his daughters' sakes, I don't know if I'd still want to marry him anyway.

My cell phone rings and I hopefully look at it to see if it's Joe. I know that I shouldn't get my hopes up, but I can't help it.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Hey, Demi," the voice replies. It's Nick.

"What's up?" I ask.

"He told me not to say, but Joe is here, Demi. He's a little hungover, so I'm giving him some time to rest, okay?"

"Can I come by?" I question.

"As long as he doesn't know that I called you."

"Okay. I'll drop by soon." I hang up.

Gabi comes into the room as I'm feeding Cela. I think she wants to ask about Joe, but she keeps her mouth shut.

"Gabi?" I ask. "Can you watch Cela for a bit? I just have to pick something up from the store."

"Sure," she replies.

I finish feeding Cela and hand her over to Gabi.

"I'll be back as soon as possible," I say.

I throw a hoodie on over my t-shirt and head to my car to drive to Nick's. Joe needs to get his head screwed on straight if he wants me to keep coming back to him. He needs to be there for his daughters.

Gabi's POV

Cela goes back to sleeping peacefully. She obviously doesn't know that her dad is gone. She doesn't realize that something other than sleeping and eating is even important yet. In some ways I wish I could go back to being innocent again like that.

Mom says she looks similar to how I did when I was a baby. Dad says she looks like me as well. But, both of their parents say that she looks a lot like Demi did when she was a baby. She's honestly perfect.

"Daddy will come back to soon, okay?" I tell her as she whimpers slightly in her sleep. "We all love you."
