Silent Night: Chapter 2

Chapter 2

This is going to be longer than the first chapter i did, so enjoy...

Here you go.  Please tell me what you think. The reason for the name change is because she didn't want her past name to be associated with her new life..

*Three Years Later*....

I'm laying on my queen sized bed, thinking about what I'm going to do on this special day: my birthday. As I decide what to wear, my phone starts to play the song I'm Not Stupid in Love.  I roll off my bed and retrieve my phone from my dresser.

"Hey! What's up girl?" yells my best friend, Candy, through the phone. 

I instantly pull back my phone from my ear, again.  This was a common practice every time she called. 

"Nothing just, getting up," I say tiredly as I walk slowly to the closet. 

I choose a sleeveless halter top with my favorite pair of distressed skinny jeans and my low top converse. I walk back to my bathroom and shut the door, I then put my phone on my sink and press the speaker button. 

"Well if you're not doing anything later, you have to come to Josh's house...around eight, okay?" she says excitedly.

I hastily change out of my clothes and jump in the shower. "Okay!" I yell as I start to wash my hair.

"Are you really taking a shower while you're on the phone with me?" she says with a hint of annoyance in her voice.

I yell back, "Yeah I am.  Get over it."

I'm done with my shower in five minutes.  Yes, I'm commonly known for taking really short showers.  I jump out of the shower and start to put on my clothes.

"So why am I going over Josh's?" I ask, standing there for a few seconds.  I don't hear anything, so I walk over to my phone and yell, "Hey! Anybody there?"

I hear a ruffle sound at the other end of the phone. "Yeah I'm here.  I just had to do something...but you don't need to know why, you just have to be there.  Promise me that you are going to come Lizzie."

I say, "I promise," and walk out of my room and down to my kitchen to get something to eat.  After several minutes of searching, I reach behind a bag of chips and pull out the Lucky Charms.

 I walk to the table and sit my cereal down on it, then pull out the milk from the fridge and grab a spoon from the sink. As I'm sitting there, my front door suddenly flies open and in walks my friend Brad, who practically lives here.  He walks over to my phone and starts chatting it up with Candy. I'm finish the cereal and tell Brad that I'm heading out as I go towards the door.  Once I'm outside run up to my 1960 Cadillac and rev up the engine.  Unlike the rest of my friends with brand new cars, I loved vintage things. 

For the rest of the day I go shopping and visit some of my family members that I haven't seen in a while. About ten minutes before I'm supposed to be at Josh's house, I head on over.

 I pull into Josh's driveway and get out of my car I walk up to his door and knock on it. I stand there and no one has answered the door. I jiggle the handle and his door just opens.  I sigh at his lack of ways of protecting himself from people who can just walk up in his house and hurt him. I walk further inside and turn on the light, hearing people scream, "Happy Birthday!"

I turn around to find all of my friends in a room decorated to the extreme.

"Hey, girl! Happy Birthday! Aren't you just so excited?" says Candy as she walks up to me. 

I shrug my shoulders and say, "It's like any other birthday, so what's so special?"

 I walk past her to get something to drink from the kitchen, and as I'm pouring my drink I feel someone walk up next to me.  They bump into me and make me spill my drink on the table.

"Oops, my bad! Did I do that?"

I know that voice from anywhere.  I turn around to come face to face with no other than Annie Wright, the most beautiful and richest girl in Greendale, California.

"Yeah, you know you did that," I say angrily she rolls her eyes.

"What are you going to do about it, loser?"

I don't know why, but ever since eighth grade she has had it out for me, and so have all of her loyal followers who practically worship the ground she walks on. 

I go and get a paper towel to clean up the mess.  After I'm done I pour myself another drink and walk back in to the living room where everyone has gathered around in a circle.  They invite me to go into the middle of the circle so I can open up my presents.  I rip open bags and wrapping paper, thanking everyone after each present. 

Then my friend Chad yells over the music, "Hey, we need some more chips John.  Where are they at?"

John yells back, "They are in the basement.  Let me go and get them."

 I'm sitting there listening while Annie talks all about how perfect her life is and how she can have any boy that she wants.  Since it's impossible to listen to her, I get up, walk over to John, and tell him that I'll will go and get the chips for him.

 "Are you sure Liz? I mean, I can do it," he says with a worried expression on his face.

"Yeah, it's totally fine.  Anything to get way from Annie and her annoying voice."

I laugh and walk over to the basement door, then go down to the pantry and get the chips.  As I'm heading up the stairs, the door suddenly shuts and I drop the chips, then run up the stairs.  I tried to jiggle the doorknob.  It won't budge.

Screaming starts on the other side of the door and I start to bang on it with my hands. The door finally opens and I stumble out and fall to the floor. 

"Is everyone okay?" I ask.  "What happened?"

Candy walks up to me and says, "Yes we are okay...umm we were just screaming because UK won the semi-final and we are going to the championship! Are you okay? "

I look around the room and see a mixture of worried and scared faces.  I sigh and say, "II don't think so...I think I need to go home." I get up and tell everyone I'm sorry that I ruined their night while Candy walks me out to my car. I get into it and drive home while Candy  follows behind me.  Soon I arrive at my house and park my car.  My parents' car was also in the driveway.  Disappointed, I say goodbye to Candy.  That is when I see it standing before me.  I stand there shocked, unable to run.
