OPENING to Rooming with a Sex God

~

"Congratulations! You are now graduates!" The principal yells in amusement as every graduating teenager throws their hats into the bright blue sky. I look back to see my parents smiling, my mother crying a bit as my father holds her petite hands in his large ones. I turn back to the front and my best friend starts jumping with joy, her full orange hair bouncing along with her like curly springs. She grabs my hands and yanks me around, making me jump along with her. I gladly give in to the jumping and we squeal together.

"Congratulations, graduate! We are no longer students!!" My very best friend, Angelic squeals above everyone else's loud and obnoxious voices. I smile at her and she twirls around, pulling me towards her boyfriend, Jeremy. She unlatches my hands and wraps her arms around her long term boyfriends chest, surprising him from behind. I hear his gasp and he turns around to his red-headed girlfriend. He sees me and smiles brightly. Jeremy looks back down at Angelic and kisses her nose. I giggle at them and turn around to give them their privacy.

"Estha! Hey!" My younger brother, Tom yells out from the crowd. I turn towards his direction as he barges past everyone else in his way. He reaches me and whirls me up in a big hug, lifting me off the ground and spinning me on the spot. "You're no longer a student! You're lucky." He laughs out as he puts me down. For a younger brother, he doesn't look it. He's heaps tall and he has a muscular body which makes him look older. People always ask me, 'is Tom Paige your older brother?' But no, he's my younger brother.

"Thanks Tom, I'm so excited." I chant with a smile. He grabs my arm and he walks me to our parents. The glow in my mums eyes makes me want to cry, because she looks so sad and happy at the same time. I look at my fathers face and he looks down. I giggle and walk up to him, embracing him in the biggest bear hug I can muster up. I feel his hot breath release against my neck as he sighs.

"I can't believe my baby bird is gonna' leave her mumma's nest!" My mother sobs out. I giggle and let my father go, turning to my teary mother. The tears brim her eyes as she tries to hold them back. I hug her tightly and laugh a bit.

"As if. You're kicking me out! How am I leaving by choice?" I choke out. She sniffles and squeezes me tightly before she lets me go. She sobs once more and Tom embraces her in a calm hug. I turn to my father with a smile on my face.

"Are you ready?" He asks. I nod and grab his hand, walking towards the main hall to collect the box that holds all of my belongings that were once in my locker. Tom grabs my box for me and we walk to the old ute that I would most likely be riding my last time in. I jump into the back seat and buckle up while everyone else sits in their car seats.

~

The old car rumbles as it cruises along the smooth tarp road. We turn a corner and dad conks the engine as the ute comes to a halt. We all jump out and head inside. My dad points me towards my room and I laugh as I make my way towards my old room that would no longer be mine after today. My mum comes running in with a newspaper and she shoves it in my face.

"This is the perfect house!" She exclaims. I laugh and take the paper, looking at it and nodding my head. "It's also really cheap!" She continues. I nod once again and start packing my things as soon as my father chucks some suitcases and boxes into my room for me.

"Start packing!" He yells from afar. I roll my eyes and continue packing.

~

As I pull my gigantic suitcases down the many stairs of the house, the continuous thumps hitting the hard wood, my father stands at the front door. My mother holds my wallet in her left hand, a bouquet of flowers in the other. I smile as I feel the heavy weight of the suitcases lift up. I look behind me to see Tom now carrying my suitcases down the stairs.

"Have fun at the new house, my darling!" My mum pants through tears and a smile. I smile back in return and hug my family tightly. My dad makes me get in the car and as we drive off, I wave to my mum and brother who are standing at the front door of the house huggin each other; most likely about to cry some more as well.

I watch as all of the passing houses become a blur. All of the greens and browns and yellows and blues and oranges and pinks and purples and blacks all mix into one giant blur as we pass everything on our way.

"Are you excited?" Dad asks. I look at him, just staring, nothing else. I wait a couple more seconds before nodding.

"Yeah, I bet it will be fun to live alone." I say sarcastically. He chuckles and places his hand on my shoulder, giving it a quick squeeze.

"It will be, don't worry," he retaliates with joy, "and I bet you'll meet a boy, and date that boy, and you won't bring him to our house because you don't want his ass kicked," he jokes, which makes me laugh for the first time during this trip, "and you'll love him." His voice grows serious as he finishes speaking.

He removes his hand from my shoulder and glues it back to the steering wheel, "besides, as if you'll be bored. Being so close to a daily carnival and a beach." He smirks and I look up at the road ahead, seeing the carnival and the beach as we slowly pass them. I gasp in awe.

"Wow..." I whisper in admiration. Slowly, the car stops. It turns and I no longer see the beautiful sight of the beach and the sunset and the lights from the carnival. All I see is a massive palm tree beside the car. I look in front and see a house, a big house.

"Welcome to your new home, Estha." Dad says in a soft tone as I stare at the rather large house in front of me. I open my door and stand out of the car, not removing my eyes from the wonderful home that I would now live in. "It's already bought. Thank your mother." He finishes. I turn to him as he walks aroundt he car. I wrap my arms around him and give him a massive bear hug.

"Thank you! Tell mum that I love her!" I giggle out. He rubs my back and I let him go.

"Now, let's get you settled in." He smiles, opening the car doors and emptying the car, taking it all into the house and helping me unpack everything; and I mean everything.

~

We collapse onto the couch that was already conveniently placed in the living room and sigh. Finally finished.

"Well that was...five workouts and a half!" I exclaim, making my father chuckle in response. He nods, standing up off of the couch and heading for the door. I stand up and follow him.

"Where are you going?" I ask. He turns around and smiles.

"I'm going home, sweetie." He says, hugging me for the last time today. I sigh and hug back. "Make sure you get something to eat before you go to bed, okay?" He asks and I nod.

"Okay." I respond.

"Your mother and I will bring your car around tomorrow morning." He speaks before running to his car. I walk out into the dark night and watch as my father reverses out of the driveway and drives off, leaving me to watch his red tale lights gleam in the distance.

I sigh. This is gonna' be a long year.
