EPILOGUE

She said Tita Mommy will do.

“So... How’s school yesterday?”

“Good,” I answered while chewing, hulaan niyo kung anong tunog nun.

Tita Mommy chuckled. “Sorry, I’m not used to this. It’s my first time, and my Mom is always busy because of work so I don’t have the best model in the world.”

I just laughed. She probably feels awkward asking about school, just like what normal mothers would probably do.

I still miss him. I miss my Mom, our house, Philippines.

Yes, Philippines.

“So... What are your plans for today?”

I looked at her. “Tita Mommy... You don’t have to try to be so motherly, ok?”

She sighed. “ After I researched how to be a good mother, you’ll say it to me?”

She pouted, I laughed. “There, you’re cooler when you’re not trying so hard. Just let it flow, and let your ‘motherly thing’ come out naturally.”

It’s now her turn to laugh. “Right, I feel like the ‘coolest’ mother in the world.”

We laughed.

Just like when Mommy died, moving on has been made easier because of the people around me. Tita Mommy has always been beside me. There are times when I can’t fall asleep and just want to cry all night.

Believe me, it’s tougher than you thought.

“Psst..”
