I woke up beside Beckii, who was still sleeping. I smiled at how beautiful she was.
I didn't want her to go today, but I knew that if I didn't, she'd just keep getting scared. She was only nineteen, I couldn't put her through this crap when she's only a few years older than Cassie.
I sighed and collapsed back onto my pillow. I looked at the time on my phone- 9:36. I frowned. Cassie was usually up by now, even if she spends half the night awake, she was always up between six and eight. I shrugged the thought off. I worry too much. She's injured and tired, of course she'll want to sleep longer.
My phone rang, interrupting my thoughts. I picked it up quickly.
"Hello?" I said, rolling out of bed and walking into the hall.
"Hey, it's Parv, in case you forgot to check your caller ID again. Me and Kogie are having friends over tonight, do you want to come? If Cass is okay?"
"I would, but there's a lot of shit going on right now." I remembered that Beckii was leaving and I teared up again.
"Aw that sucks. What's going on?"
"Cassies not great. She had a horrible panic attack last night. It was really scary and violent. It scared the shit out of Beckii and she wasn't even there for the worst of it. I told her to find somewhere to stay for a few days because its not fair for her to be scared and upset all the time." I said quietly, trying not to cry.
"Aw man that sucks. She's got a lot of friends nearby though right?"
"Yeah, but it's not the same. She isn't there in front of me, where I know she's safe."
"She'll be fine, Sparks*. How's Cassie doing?"
"She got really cold last night, so I guess she's not doing great. She doesn't really talk to anyone about how she feels though, so I can't be sure about anything right now."
"I hope she's on the mend. Keep us posted yeah?"
"Yeah." I sighed.
"Okay, well I gotta go now, but I'll see you soon, okay?"
"Okay. See you later Parv."
I hung up and walked back into our room. I flopped on the bed. I looked at Beckii again and smiled, propping myself up on my elbow and tickled her under the chin to wake her up. Her eyes flickered open and she smiled up at me.
"Hey beautiful." I said, giving her a kiss.
"Hey ugly." she replied, giving me one back. I grinned at her. "Your lisps gone."
"Thank god. I love you Beckii." I sighed, sitting up.
She sat up too and leaned her head on my shoulder.
"I love you too Tom. Possibly more."
"Nope, you don't. I definitely love you the most in this relationship." I smiled. She looked down, blushing, with a smile on her face. "You're incredibly cute when you blush."
She looked up at me, her lip starting to tremble. I pulled her into a hug.
"I'm really going to miss you." she whispered.
"I'm going to miss you even more." I replied with a sigh. "But I don't want you to get upset. It's just a few days until things calm down a little."
"I know." she sighed. "I should probably ask someone if they'll be okay with me staying."
"Yeah. Parv and Kogie are having friends over tonight."
"Oh. I won't be staying there then. It's okay. I have a few friends in Bristol." She got up and started texting. I sighed.
"I'm just going to check on Cassie." I said, rolling out of bed again and headed down the hallway.
I opened her door slightly and looked in. Leo was awake, his arm trapped under Cassie, and frowning at her, concerned.
"Leo? What's wrong?" I asked, going in.
"She's usually awake by now." he said, trying to keep the worry out of his voice. "But I don't want to wake her."
Cassie started to whimper.
"No, no get away from me." she murmured. "I didn't... I don't want to..."
Her body jerked.
"Leo wake her up!" I said. "She needs to wake up!"
We both started shaking her and doing whatever we could to wake her up, but her eyes stayed shut and her whimpers got louder.
"Why the hell won't she wake up?!" Leo growled in frustration. I picked her up bridal style and started down the hall to my room. She was constantly jerking until we got halfway down the hall, when her body went limp. She was still whimpering softly.
I lay her on my bed and checked her temperature, which was normal.
Beckii walked in as I hit my head against the wall in tears. She ran over to me and pulled me away from the wall.
"Hey, don't do that. What's wrong?" she asked softly, hugging me.
"She won't wake up! She kept whimpering and jerking, then her body went limp but she's still whimpering and I don't know what to do!" I cried. I noticed Beckiis packed bag by the door. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry you don't need this."
"Tom, it's okay. Calm down. She's just having a nightmare. She'll wake up in a minute."
Cassie frowned again and started to wriggle.
"Please... make it stop..." she mumbled in her sleep. "I want it to stop... it hurts..."
My heart broke. It was so unfair that she was so traumatised, she couldn't escape from it even asleep.
"Beckii you need to go. Do you know where you're staying?"
"Yeah, I have a friend on the other side of the city. Are you sure you'll be okay?"
I nodded, unsure.
"Yeah, I'll be fine. Go, before anything happens." I urged sadly, following her to the door. "Leo, come keep an eye on Cassie!" I called. Leo appeared and hugged Beckii goodbye before disappearing into my room.
I carried Beckiis suitcase out to the cab that she'd called. I put it in the back and hugged Beckii close, trying not to cry.
"I love you Beckii. I'm going to miss you so much." I whispered in her ear. She pulled away slightly and kissed me.
"I'll be back in a few days. Just tell me when."
"When." I smiled weakly. She smiled back and shook her head.
"I'm sorry. I love you Tom."
She got in the cab and waved as it pulled away.
I turned and walked back inside, holding in my tears.
