A/N: Ugh, I'm sorry about the lack of communication this week, I'm slowly trying to get back to all of you so I'm sorry if I miss you. If you have a question I missed, inbox me as again, it's the fastest way to get back to me. I'm STILL trying to 'clean out', aka read through my library on here but school and my new job are destroying me. I'm hoping for a calm day that I can just sit and read because I miss that.

Anyways, without further delay, here is the next to last chapter of the book. It's a weird ending I know but the final chapter will make you all wither away in pain... MUAHAHA.

Loki took no time in ushering Sigyn away from the scene, hardly saying a word besides directions about what else to grab as they dressed. Her fingers were shaking as she tried to clamp the buckles down on her armor and secure the leather ties. The cool and smooth ones of Loki came over her shaking fingers, buckling everything for her. He handed her the sword she had favored now three times.

“Third times the charm.” She mumbled as Loki finished a final buckle on her backside. He gave her an inquisitive look. “It is a term Lady Jane used once.” Sigyn replied.

“Well, I am unsure what that means, but come; we must report to the courtyard.” His fingers interlocked with hers as they ran down the hallway.

Her heart felt like it was going to pound out of her chest, sure that Loki could hear it as they weaved in and out of the hallways of the palace. Their fingers became lose as they neared where the warriors had assembled. Standing in the shadows she could see young men, far younger than herself, in lines. There would be many deaths today and they would surely be among the many to give their lives. Her breathing accelerated and she felt uneasy about the unknown outcome of the impending battle.

Turning to Loki, who was looking out around as well, she wrapped her arms around him, clinging to him for dear life. At first he was shocked, but he could feel her body tremble though her face was stone cold. Pulling back, he tilted her head up with his thumb and forefinger, a small smile growing on his lips.

“Sigyn, I will not allow anything to happen to you.”

Her lip quivered as she struggled to choke the words out she had already said before. “I’m not worried about me, I’m worried about you.”

He gave a soft chuckle, his hand resting on her cheek and wiping a single tear away. She leaned into his hand, feeling comforted by his touch and yet guilty she would not admit to him how she truly felt in his arms.

“You need not be worried for me my love, allow me show you why.”

The goddess felt his hand on her cheek pull her closer to him, her eyes closed as he placed a kiss on her lips. There was none of the aggression that had happened before. No, this one was sweet, his lips moving against hers gently as if savoring every minute they had together. It took her a while to kiss him back, but again, it was without the aggressive motion of their tongues or mouths this time, but she favored this one more than their first. She could feel his emotions, his real ones, pour out from his lips like the words he dare not speak; she never knew a kiss could mean so much with so little movement. At last, they pulled away to breathe, their foreheads resting against each other’s as they caught their breaths. His cool lips pressed to her forehead and he hugged her again, never wishing to let go.

“You are the only reason that I will be here when the sun rises, you are the only reason I need.” Loki whispered, her fingers clinging tighter to his leather outfit.
