"So how are you feeling?" Sky asks me, taking a sip of her tea. "Now that you know everything."

Sighing, I stare down at my drink. Finding out what happened to my dad was shocking and overwhelming. I don't know how to feel about my dad - so many different emotions are flooding through me at once. And plus, I have to worry about the Vulpes - a group of werewolves who are determined to destroy the Moon Goddess and her loyal followers.

And, Carl is dead. I hardly knew him but I still feel the weight of the death since he threatened me and my pack.

"I'm fine," I reply, avoiding eye contact.

Sky raises her eyebrows and purses her lips. "I don't believe that for a second. Usually, people who say they are fine aren't - they say it because they don't want people to pry."

I blow out a breath, "
I'm just - I don't really talk about my feelings. I've never had anyone to talk to about these things."

Sky gives me an understanding look and grabs my hands. "It's okay, best friends are supposed to be patient and understanding. I won't push."

I give her a grateful smile. I feel guilty for not spending more time with Sky - recently I have just been so busy with other things that I have forgotten all about her. I make a mental note to take some time off for her when this is all over.

"So how are things going with you? I feel as though we haven't spoken as much recently." I say.

"Good I guess but," she pauses and shifts her attention to something behind me. "I've been feeling pretty down lately. Well, not down, just on edge."

Frowning, I question her further.

"It's like a gut feeling - I feel like something bad is going to happen soon." She explains and laughs awkwardly. "I'm sounding crazy, aren't I?"

I shake my head frantically, "No, no. Just, do you know what about? Do you think something is going to happen to you or the pack?"

"I can't say but I got the feeling last night after they announced Carl had escaped."

I squeeze the hand that is still on top of mine and give her a reassuring look. "Whatever it is, we will deal with it together because that's what best friends do."

Sky's green eyes light up and she gives me a small smile. "Yeah, that's what best friends do."

"Hi Quinn," Isabelle greets, "I hope you don't mind me joining you."

I shake my head and give her a polite smile. Beaming, Isabelle settles herself in the seat next to me and focuses on the news screen in front of me. After talking to Sky for a while about my thoughts on the Vulpes, I decided I would wait for Kaiden in the lounge. Most of the pack members are either eating tea or training.

"I don't mean to sound rude or anything and I hope I don't come across like that but are you staying?"

Isabelle cracks a smile. "I see you have inherited my bluntness. Most of the people in our family have always been so indirect." It's interesting to hear about my family from her. My mother always told me so little. "But no, I'm staying. I've had direct orders from Selene that I need to stay for a little longer."

My heart pounds in my chest. Selene - the Moon Goddess - ordered Isabelle to stay here. That must mean something important is going to happen.

"Isabelle," I start seriously and swallow the lump in the back of my throat. "Did you kill Carl? Or do you know who did?"
