Jane Felt as if your life was going to change for the better. She was no longer going to be going to a con vent, as her family was hoping she would do. She was residing in the Greenwich palace, in the same policy as King Henry the eighth. She, along with five other young ladies, were chosen to be spending one week with the king, in preparation for his choosing a queen. And she was hoping that she would be the one he would choose.
Henry was a very sweet and tempered king. He was tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. He had a very strong and muscular build. His Voice was soft and melodic, but loud and powerful when he was angry. He would never take no for an answer. Not by anyone.
Jane knee better than to cross henry. She didn't want to anger him. She was desperate to please him, and please him she would. In every possible way.
Annalisa. Do you even believe that he loves you?
Katherine. You don't even know him.
Katerina. He starts out nice, but then he becomes a beast.
Annabel. He will have your neck.
Katelyn. He will treat you with disrespect and dishonesty. He will not give you what you desire.
Jane. I do not believe any of you. I believe that king Henry is very nice and cordial. He is very sweet and kind to me. He respects me, and therefore, I shall give him the same love and respect in return.
The other five ladies stared at her, completely surprised. They had no idea what to say. They couldn't find words to speak.
Got arena. Are you sure you want to go through with this? Don't you remember how he treated the rest of us?
Jane. If I remember correctly, the rest of you did not treat him with love or respect. So he became agitated with you. Relationships are give and take. You cannot take the love and respect of someone and not give it back.
Katelyn. How dare you say such a thing! All of us loved and adored the king! But he obviously didn't treat us the same way!
Annalisa. Why should you be any different?
Jane. I recognize the good in people. I recognize the kindness and gentleness that they possess. I recognize what is beneath the skin, not just the outer layer. I look at people for who they are on the outside and the inside.
Everyone rolled their eyes with exasperation. They did not want to tamper or deal with Jane and her nonsense.
Katerina. Well, good luck to you then. Let us all hope that he treats you with the same respect that he gave the rest of us.
And with that, the five ladies left.
Jane sat down on her bed, trying to wrap her mind around the fact that the following week would be her time to be with Henry. It would be her week to spend with him, completely alone. She would treat him with the same dignity that he would give her. She would be kind, gentle, respectable, good-natured, and tender to him. And she was hoping that he would treat her the same way. She would not allow the other ladies to influence her own thoughts and feelings about him. She would make her own judgments.
Changing into her nightgown with the help of a lady in waiting, Jane slipped into bed, closed her eyes, and fell asleep. In a matter of days, she and king Henry would be together. And, if time will allow, and time will tell, she could be the next queen of England. The only thing she had left to do was wait for her week to arrive. And, once it had, things would be different.
And, Jan was very helpful that, if all went well, she and Henry would be engaged, and married, by the end of the week. She hoped and prayed that the outcome would be in her favor. That Henry would love her as much as she loved him. Even though they had not seen each other for the last five weeks, at least not for long, she knew that they were destined to be together for all of eternity.
Taking a deep breath, Jane snuggled deeper into the blankets, and allowed sleep and dreams to take over her. She dreamed of a future of sparkling help, of dazzling love and passion. She dreamed of a happy forever. She dreamed of her beautiful and handsome King Henry. And she dreamed, in time, that she would be queen. She could not wait for her future to begin. She could not wait for her new life to start. Sleep soon over took her, and she fell into unconsciousness.
