WARNING: (MINOR) MATURE SCENE IN THIS CHAPTER
It was early in the morning when Laura's phone buzzed loudly. She grabbed it from the side of her bed and saw that the notification was from a news app, regarding something in Sokovia. She knew that HYDRA had been doing something in Sokovia, she didn't know what.
Now curious as to what was the news alert, she clicked on the notification but then her phone chose the exact same moment to die on her. She put it on charging before she headed out of the room to switch on the TV.
Laura sat on the couch and turned on the TV, keeping the volume low because she didn't want to wake Bucky up. She flicked through the channels when she finally landed on a news channel. It was then her eyes widened.
"Oh my god," She gasped as she covered her mouth in shock and horror, seeing the visuals on the screen. The city of Sokovia was rising into the sky. Buildings were crumbling and even if the news camera wasn't able to capture the sound, she knew that people must have been screaming too. The Avengers were shown to be zooming around. Laura managed to catch a glimpse of Rose on the screen before it got too overwhelming for her.
She had begun considering Rose to be a friend; after all without some of her help, she knew that Bucky and her would have been caught by HYDRA. She placed a hand on her heart, feeling it racing really fast. She took a deep breath before she felt her heartbeat slow down. She got up from the couch and walked over to Bucky's room. The door was open slightly and through it, she could see his sleeping figure.
Laura sighed softly before she went back to her room. She sat back on her bed before she picked up her phone. Since it had charged, she removed the plug and opened her phone. She managed to send a text to Rose before she dropped it beside her and fell back on the bed, staring at the ceiling.
How long would they have to be on the run? Be careful of everything and be suspicious of everyone around them? They had been on the run for a year and a half. Soon enough it would be two years. All this reminded her of, was the short time she had spent on the streets hiding from the foster care people till that bastard Pierce had found her.
Laura shook her head slightly. She didn't want to think about that. It only brought her bad memories. She barely remembered her childhood memories and only remembered the dangerous times. It was then an old memory came back to her.
She was a child and she had been watching some movie and the music of the movie had made her want to dance all night long. That movie had been her comfort for the nights her parents weren't at home and those nights were many. Laura quietly got up from her bed and got dressed, before grabbing a pen and paper and scribbling a quick note for Bucky so that he wouldn't start to worry.
With her phone in her pocket and her purse in her hand, Laura quietly sneaked out of the house, careful not to make any noise at all. Even if it was somewhat early in the morning, she hoped that some store was open and that she could find her that movie somewhere.
