It was a humid summer evening, about mid July; Roger sat at home alone trying to think of any way he could possibly entertain himself over the next few hours, or perhaps some would call it procrastination, before himself, Bri and Freddie played their second gig at the local pub. His home phone had seen Bri's number a few too many times already today so Roger decided that he'd instead try dialing for his other friend John, who he also knew through other musical connections, in hopes that perhaps it would gain him some form of a distraction over the next few hours. If seeing John wasn't an option, at least talking over the phone for a short while should perk him up just slightly. Just like Bri however, there was no answer on the other side of the line from Deaky, or anyone in his house for that matter. Roger didn't know what to do with himself, but he did know he wasn't going to stay sitting alone in his house when the sun was warm and radiant outdoors- and with that thought he slipped on his favourite pair of comfortable Adidas shoes and set out of his home walking. He didn't really know where he intended on going, so instead of thinking he just let his feet lead himself onward. Taking everything in that he walked past on his journey, realizing that all his surroundings were so adequate and beautiful in its own. Roger would occasionally catch himself staring at some of the bloom that trimmed the pathway perhaps a little bit too intensely, allowing himself to relieve the contact with a soft, low chuckle from the back of his throat. With each step forward a new melody, the odd lyric or drumbeat would enter into and then slip from his mind before he had time to make a mental note of its wholeness and complexities. Before he could have even realized where he was, Roger had both of his feet firmly in the front doorway of number 334 of Winton Street, in other words- the home of John Deacon. Roger hadn't planned to arrive where he currently found himself, nor did he understand quite why he wanted to be there. John clearly didn't need or want him, otherwise the phone wouldn't have rung out like it did. With all hesitations aside however, Roger decided to knock on the door.

A brief knock rung throughout the house, John stood up from the cushioned double bed and started to fix his hair up to decency in the small oval mirror on the dresser towards the end of the bed. He turned to peer over his shoulder at the tall, brunette boy that he had been previously lay next to. With a sweet smile to and from Brian, John made his way down the narrow, carpeted stairs. The entire house was dark, all the curtains and window coverings were shut and the only light that managed to make its way into the abyss was that from cracks in blinds or small, decorative glass openings above doorways. John slowly opened the door to bright, glaring sunlight. He stood and waited for his eyes to adjust to the beaming light of the sun to then see the short, sweet blonde standing on his doorstep.
"Bit dark in here don't you think, John?" Roger asked as he pushed past a rather sleepy John into the hallway of the small 2 bedroomed home. Closing the door behind Roger, John turned around still confused as to why the boy upstairs' friend was standing in his hallway.
"Why on earth are you here Rog? I don't remember returning any of your calls or answering for that matter. Can't you just take a hint?"
Roger scoffed as he took his shoes off and threw them aside, "You should greet your visitors with manners, not mouthfuls of abuse" Roger returned with a devilish smirk across his already smug face.
"I'd hardly call you a visitor, I think intruder is slightly more fit to purpose" John kicked back at Roger's comment.
"Sorry Shakespeare" Roger taunted, "Anyway, what is wrong with you? Have you got a girl over or something?"
There was a long silence between the two boys, "Well have you then or not? Because at this point I'm taking it as a yes" He continued to press John for answers.
Little did Roger realize, John and Brian were in fact 'seeing' one another, and had just been spending some time with each other for about three hours previous. The two shy brunettes had managed to keep the news between themselves, at least that's what they thought. With not much else to say, Roger was unaware of who exactly was upstairs, that was until this anonymous somebody padded their way downstairs.
"Ah- I see. You alright up there Bri?" Roger teased. John stood to the side of Roger at the bottom of the stairs, his face beginning to redden. He adverted any contact with either Brian or Roger by looking down at his feet and scuffing them in the carpet. An uncomfortable silence hung around them all. After a good few minutes, Brian stepped down from the staircase and walked through into the kitchen, getting himself a glass out of the cupboard and filling it with tap water. Roger followed Brian into the kitchen and stood next to him, leaning on the work surface.
"So why exactly are you in John's house? Roger asked as he nudged Brian's arm which he was holding the glass of water in making the contents stir and splash onto Brian's shirt sleeve. Turning his focus away from the glass of water, Brian shot a cold look across to the small blonde, causing his eyes to widen in shock, and his head to turn away in surprise. Roger strode back out of the kitchen and made his way back towards the stairs, only to find John standing beside them, blocking his way. Roger proceeded to put his foot on the second step up anyway, but then stumbled backwards upon having either of his wrists grabbed tightly by John. Roger pulled himself out and away of the other boys grasp and ran upstairs as fast as his feet would carry him, bursting through the door of the bedroom that Brian and John had previously been 'busy' in.
