I awoke to silence and made my way to the balcony, it was still dark out so I enjoyed the scenery. Thinking about how I got here made me want to laugh. I leaned against the railing looking over the gardens when the door opened behind me. "I didn't hear you step out." I looked over my shoulder as arms wrapped themselves around my waist. "You were out cold and I didn't want to wake you." I said looking back to the garden.

It was just a few months ago that I was enjoying my solitary life in my cabin out by the border of the woods. After losing my parents I was passed over to my aunts whom, once I turned 15, kicked me out. My father worked for the royalty and noblemen so he spent his free time teaching me what he could. Out here only the ones in royal and noble ranks were able to get an education. Most people were farmers, vendors, repair men, tailors, smiths, builders, hunters, or fishermen so they never really needed it. So it came in handy when I've been working in helping the men out in making plans for the town or anything that involved reading or teaching their kids, in exchange for help in making my cabin or getting cheaper food and cloths.

Though I was abruptly pulled from my calm and quiet life when word spread around town that the prince was looking for a wife. One morning while preparing for a walk in the woods my aunts

came rushing in yelling at the top of their lungs about how the king and queen were holding a grand ball that all of the kingdoms women of the proper age for marriage were invited to. I didn't really care about that stuff so I just not interested in such things. They didn't even seem to process it and were dead set on me attending. Knowing that I wasn't going to win against them I let them drag me out to shop for the dress I was going to wear..

Once I was there I had tried to avoid the crowd of women and the rest of the royalty living there. I didn't particularly favor the attention. Looking around I figured that I may have been lost, though since I still saw the castle I didn't worry. I leaned against a tree and stared up at the sky. I saw how the town looked from so high up and how there were little specks of light littering it. I stood up straight and sighed thinking about how stupid this is and how it's a waste of time. I peeked at the sky once more and turned around only to get scared out of my wits. Not noticing that I had shrieked and took a rather too large of a step back I felt myself falling. The man who scared me quickly reached out and was able to grab me by my arm. "I didn't mean to scare you ma'am." he said as he pulled me upright.

As the night went on he explained what he was doing out and in return I shared with him why I was even here at all. Apparently we got along well for the duration of the ball, but what I didn't know is that we were being watched that whole time.

Not even a week had passed when I had people knocking at my door. It had seemed that not only the man who I met that night was the prince himself but that his parents, the king and queen, personally wanted to meet me too. When I had gotten there they lead me into the throne room. I curtsied and looked up at them, I wanted to know why I was here.

The queen spoke up first. "As you may know a few weeks ago we held a ball in search for a proper woman to marry the prince. You darling, have caught our interest. Not only are you intelligent and well educated but you are quite beautiful."

I stared up at the queen with wide eyes. "Your highness, I didn't attend the ball voluntarily. My aunts gave me no choice but to..."

"And good choice on your aunts part!" I was cut off by the king as he finally spoke. "Now you have only two choices." I nodded and looked at them both. "You can choose to marry the prince give him an heir and permanently stay with us, or you could stay here for six months and if by the end of those six months you two haven't produced an heir you are to leave the palace."

I stood there frozen in disbelief at this whole situation. "I don't want to marry the prince. Much less have a child for him!"  I said, voice raised. "I am not a common whore that you find out on the streets!"

The king then stood at my outburst. "Fine then! You will live here as nothing more than a mere concubine! After you bear that child you will have nothing to do with this kingdom at all. Your belongings will be brought here tonight. A maid will lead you to the room in which you will share with the prince for the next six months and afterwards you will be taken out to the border of the kingdom. You won't be allowed back here for any reason at all. That is my final word."

With that he stood up and began to exit the queen following closely behind. I stood staring at where he had been standing just moments ago, desperately trying to make sense of what just happened.

It has been close to five weeks now. I turned around in the princes' arms and looked him in the eyes. To my astonishment I came to find out that I had him wrapped around my finger. He has taken a liking to me, or more to having me laid upon his bed available to any of his urges. I don't think that he was informed of anything other than I am here to give him an heir.

He leaned in and placed kisses along my cheek and down my jaw to my chin. I sighed quietly knowing already what he wanted.

"Lets go inside where it's warmer and we could enjoy ourselves better." He whispered in my ear as he slid his hand into the silk robe I was wearing and in between my legs, rubbing me softly before sliding in two of his fingers. I gasped and grabbed onto his shoulders as I lost most of the feeling in my legs.

I have only laid with two men. My first being a handsome traveler who had lived with me as he searched for someone. He never specified who, only that it was somebody that will change his life. That had been about half a month before the ball and how I loved every minute of those two long days we spent tangled in bed sheets and each others limbs. My second being the prince. And how happy I felt that my first had been with that traveler.

At the end of the fifth week I had never prayed and hoped so much to not being with child.
