Waking Up

Your eyes shot open and you quickly raised your head. You looked around and realized you were inside the ship. Next to you was Ruby, Ren and Nora in that order. On the other side of you was Jaune.

(Y/N): What happened?

Flynn: You got your butt kicked.

(Y/N): Flynn?

Flynn: Oz turned himself over to save you guys. (You looked defeated) But...Qrow was able to track them down. They're on an island somewhere north of here. It's all a matter of island hopping.

(Y/N): Well, that's a relief. I think.

Flynn: Should be.

(Y/N): Where's everyone else?

Flynn: They'll all over the place. Some are cleaning up the town. Others are trying to get supplies for us. It all really depends on what's needed.

(Y/N): What should I do?

Flynn: For now, stay put. Get some rest. We'll need the five of you up and running soon.

You nodded in conformation. Your brother smiled at you and got up and walked out of the ship. You just laid your head back and took a deep breath. Your attempt to relax was halted by your concern for the others. You slowly got up and leaned over towards Jaune. You checked his vital systems on the screen. He seemed alright, nothing to major or damaging.

You then checked up on the rest of JNPR's remains. Nora seemed alright as well. Although her heart rate was a bit uneven. However, that was apparently normal. Ren also seemed normal. Ruby also was in a stable condition. You turned back to face her and leaned down towards her. You slowly moved your hand over her face. You leaned down to kiss her cheek. However, as you did, her head shot up and the two of you bounced back in pain.

Ruby: (Y/N)! Who? What? Where? When?! (Y/N)?!

You were on the ground, holding your head as Ruby did the same to hers.

(Y/N): Hey...Rosebud.

Ruby: Were you watching me sleep?

(Y/N): What? No! That would be creepy. (She gave you a pouty look) Ok, yeah. But only for a bit! I just woke up too you know!

Ruby: Well, I know now!

You got back up and sat on your medical bed. You leaned back and let your back on the cold metallic wall of the ship. Ruby also sat back up and did the same as you. She wince a bit.

(Y/N): You ok?

Ruby: A little cold, don't you think?

(Y/N): Well, we are about to enter Atlas. That is until we find Oscar and Ozpin. They gave themselves for us.

Ruby just stayed silent. She looked around with a concern look.

Ruby: I'm sorry.

(Y/N): What?

Ruby: You were right. We shouldn't have come here. We should have just gone straight to Atlas. But no! I was an idiot and wanted to come here!

(Y/N): I thought it was-

Ruby: I convinced him to come here. I really just wanted things to feel...to feel like they used to. With no worries. No urgencies. Just us relaxing here and not worrying about anything. Now look at this mess! Oscar's gone. You're scarred up. Everyone's knocked out. And...and-

(Y/N): Ruby. Think of what would have happened if we weren't here. This town would be long gone. Yeah, we got beat bad. But at the end of this, we saved more lives. Besides, your uncle got a tracker onto Oscar. He's somewhere up north. So, once we're done with the clean up here, we'll keep on going to find him and get outta here. Ruby, none of this is your fault.

Ruby looked to the ground a bit, still refusing to make eye contact with you.

(Y/N): Here. Come on.

Ruby leaned forward and you wrapped your arms around her and embraced her. You rubbed her back and you could feel Ruby's tears hit your chest and clothing. You sat back up onto your med-bed and pulled Ruby up with you. After a few hours, the others returned to the ship and the rest of JNPR awoke.

Qrow and Flynn also returned with some local fast food since it was the only thing that was available to the group. From there, the dinner conversation was pretty fun with many jokes being made. Yang's puns came as a welcome signed despite the chaos. From there, night arrived the day followed.

For two days, you and your friends spent conducting clean up detail around the town of Panna. From lifting beams, hammering things into place, and rebuilding structures. From restaurants to homes, to even a few hangers that were destroyed by the Grimm. The town was very supportive of your teams and were eager to help and assist you. Qrow even began a movement to grow a force to assist in recapturing Oscar with the promise that Panna would be avenged.

Both you and Ruby thought it was a stupid idea, that was until after the first day, over 40 signatures were on the board. From there, you and Ruby just had to support the movement. At the end of the second day, at least 20 more signatures were added. While more than 60 signatures were on the board, you still nervous about the mission. Well, regardless, you and your fellow huntsmen prepared to deploy out towards the northern islands. Currently, you were sitting inside the bridge of the ship with Ruby, Gure, Blake, Silver and Weiss while the rest were out and about.

Weiss: I still cant believe how so many people showed up for this thing. They could seriously be hurt or killed!

Silver: Emotions can lead to many acts.

Ruby: (Giggles) Yeah. Like-

Silver: DON'T! Bring that up! Please.

Blake: But Silver is right. So is Weiss. A lot of people can easily get hurt within seconds. And the last thing we need is even more damage.

(Y/N): They were promised the town would be avenged. Whether we like it or not, they'll hold animosity towards that Doctor for years.

Silver: Animosity? That's a new one for you.

(Y/N): Figured I grow vocabulary. I'm not 17 anymore.

Blake: And you're dating a 16 year old.

Ruby: HEY! I've known him since I was 5. He won't do anything! Right?

(Y/N): Right!

The two of you do an old handshake and embrace one another. Both Silver and Weiss look at you both with a deadpanned appearance.

Weiss: Right. So, where, do you know, exactly is Oscar?

(Y/N): Just up north. Only Qrow knows.

Gure: Speaking of.

From outside, everyone could see Qrow talking to some official. Afterwards he entered the ship with the others. Without saying a word, Jaune, Ren, Nora and Flynn assumed positions on the bridge as Qrow got into the pilot seat.

Ruby: Uncle Qrow?

Qrow: Yeah?

Ruby: What's going on now?

Qrow: The mayor of the place approved the use of his ships and citizens to fight. We're heading out now. Strap yourselves in kids. We're going after a mad man.

With that, Qrow began to pilot the ship as the six of you got yourself into seats within the ship. All around you, at least twelve other ships took off and flew in the direction you guys were. You all finally crossed into the open ocean, now flying towards Oscar and Ozpin with your own armanda.
